The Warriors would like to upgrade their starting small-forward spot.

Golden State reportedly would like to trade a combination of its four first-round picks for Andre Iguodala, Nicolas Batum, Luol Deng, Rudy Gay, Danny Granger or Josh Smith.

"Having four picks is a tremendous situation to be in, and I think we can do some good things with it," general manager Bob Myers said. "We're excited. We have a tremendous amount of assets, which puts us in good shape to explore a variety of opportunities. It's up to us to make something of it."

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, a 6-foot-7 small forward out of Kentucky, also is coveted by the Warriors.

The Warriors thought they had worked out a trade last summer for Iguodala, but the deal, which would have brought the swingman west in exchange for Monta Ellis, was vetoed while the 76ers were in the process of being sold. Iguodala remains on the Warriors' wish list, and they've expressed similar interest in Portland's Nicolas Batum, Chicago's Luol Deng, Memphis' Rudy Gay, Indiana's Danny Granger and Atlanta's Josh Smith.

If we trade Josh for the #7 then so be it, but then Sund HAS to demonstrate at least an ounce of creativity and try to flip the #7 and our #23 for a top 5 pick, we won't fill any needs at number 7 so I say lets trade up and become a player in the Drummond or MKD sweepstakes

@ 7th who do you believe is capable of becoming a superstar? We would need the pick to be close to a sure thing and I prefer GS to include someone like Dorell Wright. Maybe a package that involves Andris Biedrins and Marvin Williams as well.

I do believe the Dub's are looking to use DW and the #7 as a package deal. Possibly even the #35 pick going as well.

We can't trade both 2012 1st rounders since we still owe Utah our pick next year.

Actually,

I'd be more than okay with this move if it flies as is.

-We get cheap, young talent @ 7 with the chance to draft a young center. (Tyler Zoeller?)

-We get cap relief to further improve our roster with Josh smith's $12 millijon coming off the books.

-We can still draft a bench player @ 23 for more depth at SG, SF or PF.

-We suddenly have enough room to extend Jeff Teague.

And the thought of Josh Smith and Steph Curry running the pick-and-roll sounds like a real treat.

Warriors are said to be offering the 7, Dorell Wright, and 1 of Biedrins/Jefferson for either Smith, Iggy, Granger, or Gay. Also rumored that they would possibly throw in one of their later picks as well.

They basically have to dump one of those big contracts to make it work. Without one of them added, they probably just take BPA at 7 and roll with Rush at the SF position.

Problem with making a trade with GSW is that we simply can't take on dead salary for Smoove in the '13-'14 season, while GSW would be trying to pawn off Biedrins or Jefferson to make the deal work. We'd have to get a 3rd team involved who'd be willing to take a contract off our hands. Here's a trade I've been kicking around, figured I'd drop it here:

ATL trades Smoove for Jack, Wright, #10
GSW trades Biedrins, Wright, #7, and #30 for Smoove and (either Aminu or X Henry)
NOH trades Jack, (either Aminu or X Henry), #10 for Biedrins, #7, #30

We get a top 10 pick and 2 useful expirings for Smoove. GSW nets Smoove for the deal that their fans (well, the non Anti-Smoove ones anyway) generally offer with a #30 for a former lotto pick kicker. NOH gets an upgrade on one of their picks and another 1st to take on a 25 yo 7'er who's lost his way.

This isn't true. You can't trade 2 consecutive future 1st round picks, but you can trade current picks at any time. At this point, the 1sts that GSW this year would be considered a current pick - not a future one.
