In other words, "Give us any offer, please! Don't leave us with just Brooklyn!"

ever since the Joe trade, i'm all for not making the Dwight trade anymore and just wait until free agency and keep Horford. Horford is a great player and if Ferry can't secure Dwight as a free agent, then their are still other great free agents in 2013.
if a Horford/Dwight trade happens, i'm okay with it, but if it was me, i would stop making any move and just wait.
for most Hawks fans, we think that Ferry has already done enough to get our admiration, and most fans are happy to go in with the current line up Ferry has now.

To me, if Dwight says he'll sign the extension, you make the deal, almost no matter what. My only caveat would be to keep enough cap space to sign a max agent after next year. If that happens, trade the house, resign Dwight, and wait for CP3 or good pieces like Monta or something else.

Bad news on this front. Current report is that ORL is focusing on the LAL deal for Bynum. This could potentially take both C's off the FA market next year - or it could make both more available...

Agreed. Shoot for the moon. We should only make a deal if we can keep Horford. The question is not, "Wouldn't you trade Horford for Dwight Smith?" - the question is, "Why would you give Al Horford away when you don't have to?"
Try to keep Horford and Smith AND acquire Paul and Howard. Once we sign any FAs, the time for adding will be over and whatever shape the team's in will not change much. Like Miami, we'll be tapped out. Could Smith/Howard/Paul beat MIA? Maybe not but Horford/Smith/Howard/Paul would decimate them.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Only way for the Hawks to keep Horford is to sign Dwight and CP3 next season. Depending on where Dwight gets traded to.

Which is pretty sure is that Howard won't come in as a F.A., or sign an extension while traded if Smith is out. We won't trade Smith, but Smith can also walk away nest summer.
So the best chance to get him would be to extend Smith.

I agree that we should extend Smith, but I think it's best to wait a second to see what happens. Because if we do it and then Dwight gets traded to BKN, we'd be better off signing two max FA and just Al at PF

Our only chance at keeping Horford AND getting CP3/Howard is for Dwight and CP3 to play out their contracts. CP3 definitely will...but NO WAY Dwight can play it out in Orlando....and no team, not the Lakers or Rockets or even Hawks is going to trade for him without getting an extension done. He's too volatile for verbal agreements too.
Orlando knows it has to trade him because he's not staying...I guess it depends how bad he wants that extra year and $25M.
Only way we're getting Dwight is by trade. If Teague/Horford doesn't interest them there's not a whole lot we can do.
Probably for us it's best to play out the season and hope CP3 or Howard will want to come, but most likely that is just a pipe dream.

Stand pat, Howard is a super flake so wait and see which way the wind blows before making decisions. Might just reup in Orlando when all is said and done......then demand another trade months later.

Keep what we got and make a push for Steven Adams next year in the draft. Going all in with max contracts leave you so wide open if one guy is injured. I like James Harden next year as well.
1-Teague
2-Harden
3-Smith
4-Horford
5-Adams
Bench: Jenkins, Ebanks, Zaza, vet, vet.

"We'll offer 14 first round picks and an all-you-can-eat trip to the Varsity."
