Rashard Lewis @ $3.09 million mini mid-level exception?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Jul 4, 2012 1:34 pm

Like the player or not, it's just nice to see us being mentioned as a potential destination.

A source told The Post the Knicks were on Lewis’ short list, along with the Heat, Lakers, Spurts and Hawks. Lewis, who can play small forward at 6-foot-10, is looking to sign for the $3.09 million mini mid-level exception after pocketing a $13.7 million buyout from the Hornets http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/v ... ogYSTk7OkI

back in 1998 i had Rahard #1 on my draft board:

1. Rashard
2. Al Harrington
3. Ruben Patterson

Babcock ended up getting McLeod

I wouldn't mind Rashard on the team, but he wouldn't really help that much, i would rather see him on the Spurs.

i never thought Rashard was overpaid, i felt he deserved his money more than Jameer and Turk. Turk was overrated on that Finals team, i thought as Rashard goes, so does the Magic.

good luck to him.

I would prefer Ilyasova, but I doubt it would be enough.

I think Shard at $3MM is a steal. I think he can still produce like a $5.5MM player, and given that we have a pressing need at SF...

Isn't the rumor on him $8M per from Milwaukee? Also there are rumors of Brooklyn looking do a S&T as a fallback to Dwight. If any of this is true he's out of our range.

No thanks, his one skill in shooting is already duplicated in droves on our roster. He doesn't rebound and I doubt he can play the 3 anymore at his age so he'd just be added to a glut at PF that includes Al, Josh, Mike Scott, and Jordan Williams with Ivan being an RFA.

Shooting is never duplicated enough.

he is still a 3. He isn't a great 4 and never has been. He is a good rebounder for a three, not so much at the 4.

He would be a great addition and a starter on this team. If anything we need extra shooters to space the floor.

Is he a good rebounder at the 3? Because he's worse than Marvin and I can name a lot of people that considered Marvin a bad rebounder (asshats, of course) but Shard did have the benefit of playing plenty more at the 4 and still didn't have a better rate. He's old and his knee is clearly an issue so I question his mobility and lift on his shot plus his ability to defend anything.

At 3 mil, I'd say hell no. I'd rather bring in Martell Webster, Terrence Williams and even check to see if Donte Green can refind his stroke before considering Shard. Hell Carlos Delfino, Cartier Martin the list just goes on for guys that are more worthwhile and cheaper.

If I'm not wrong, we have the Non-Taxpayer MLE available, so $5M to use, even if I wouldn't use 5M on Lewis.

I would rather have Anthony Randolph....... Rashard at this point seems like a player you add to a contender

He is much better than Randolph though and is a more natural SF. Plus, his shooting ability vs Randolphs shooting ability? Night and day.

Looks like he is signing with the Heat for the vet minimum. Dear god they are going to be hard to beat next year. They are adding SHOOTERS.

More shooters you mean? Battier damn near singlehandedly shot them to a championship and Mike Miller clinched it. They are basically saying to the league though, "go ahead, go big, we'll just spread you out and beat your stiffs off the dribble" by continuing to solidify their small ball lineup.

I don't imaging Miller will make it back. But yeah...MORE shooters.
