ATLANTA, July 30, 2012 - The Atlanta Hawks today completed a sign-and-trade transaction that sends Willie Green to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the rights to Sofoklis Schortsanitis, it was announced by President of Basketball Operations/GM Danny Ferry. The move also creates a trade exception for the Hawks.
Schortsanitis was selected by the Clippers in the second round (34th overall) of the 2003 NBA Draft.
Green played in 53 regular season contests for Atlanta in 2011-12, averaging 7.6 ppg and 1.5 rpg in 17.4 mpg (.471 FG%, .442 3FG%, .857 FT%).

And Sofoklis is an intriguing product. Underwhelming to be sure, but has size and polish. Can't be worse than Jason Collins or Erick Dampier.
It's these small moves that really show the difference between DFerry and hs predecessors.
Start calling this guy AllState, because we are truly in good hands...

it looks like he would be better at Left Tackle in run blocking for the birds, on stretch run plays like Willie Roaf use to do.

the TPE is the prize now. but Schortsanitis may end up being the real prize. did you see his Highlights. impressive. the thing I like the most about his highlights is that they are all in the paint. and in the second video he was scoring against NBA talent (Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard) nice. it just seems like he was on the bench a lot. he may need to loose a few pounds and get in better shape. but he just turned 27 last month so if he is not coming at least by the season of 2013-2014 he, more than likely, will never play in the NBA.

He was deadset on coming over and playing in the NBA 2 years ago, even played summer league with the Clippers to prove he could make it and they said hell naw. He also just signed a 3 year deal in his home Greece so I sincerely doubt he ever becomes a Hawk, his rights were traded as just a matter of getting the deal done because the Clippers have no other assets or picks to waste on Mean Willie.

MAN!!! Big Sofo + Ivan inside on the 2nd unit would VERY INTIMIDATING!
That's like going inside against 2 big, hungry grizzly bears!!!
HAWKS SHOULD BRING HIM OVER and get him down to about 345-350ilbs. Dude would be beastin in our 2nd unit.

highlights makes anybody look good, but maybe Sofo has the skill set to be Atlanta's version of Big Baby.

its more than highlights, he is a big guy that knows how to use his body and probably would be skilled if not for the layers of fat. kinda like Oliver Miller without the passing ability.
He would be a decent hulk for off the bench, but as said, he ain't coming over and I wouldn't spend too much time trying to get him over either.

Sofoklis is 27yr, and their is a reason why he has never been able to make an NBA team, but i'm rooting for him to make the team and see him in a Hawks uniform, just like how i'm rooting to see Keith Benson in a Hawks uniform this season.

the summer league highlights look good, but the exhibition against the Cavs looks bad.
