Mookie Blaylock

Mookie Blaylock was a former fan favorite, many that watched him playing during his tenure here loved him, but no effort seems to be happening to have him as a familiar face around the arena. Mookie possibly has no interest, but it'd be nice to see him around at times. I still have his jersey from way back in the day.

Yeah. Would be nice if we could get him on the staff to teach a guy like Teague.

What is he up to these days? Smitty praises him all the time, Ferry brought him up in his last interview and said he was a fan but I never hear anything about him. Does he have a charity or camps? Car dealership? Does he do anything in broadcasting? Coaching? I can't say I've actively wondered about him outside of when others mention him, maybe he just likes to stay low key.

It is unfortunate, but I must point out Mookie has had issues with "partying"...and an organization cant risk their reputation on his. The risk of future debauchery and shenanigans out weigh any novel value he could potentially bring.

I always heard the exact opposite. Do you have a link for this?
There was a Mookie sighting in Oklahoma last month. LINK:

No link. However to clarify, I know and have discussed with employees of a particular local watering hole that he is no longer allowed to enter because of the aforementioned concerns. I had several conversations with him there over the years prior to this (great guy and was one of my all time favorite Hawks) and was just pointing this out as my observation and nothing more. That fact is he was banned from the bar because of his behavior after his lengthy patronage says alot IMO.

Thanks for sharing the article, phildm.
NWO, I had no idea the partying was that serious, so it makes sense why the organization would basically not keep ties to him.

I know people who partied with him all the time during and after his time in Oakland, and... well, yeah, lol.
They said he was a cool dude, and once showed me a playbook/player scouting report binder that he had given them.

For those that may not know.....Mookie has 2 twin sons playing football this year at Kentucky.
One of the 2 is starting to get playing time. so perhaps Mookie is spending his time following them around the SEC.

Hey HMFFL, I guess this thread was sadly fortuitous...

Can't seem to get the actual article open, but searching for Mookie turns up the following:
A GBI lab report showed former NBA player Daron "Mookie" Blaylock tested positive for the presence of two substances in his blood following a crash that killed a mother of five in May.
Sorry Mookie, time for you to pay your debt to society.
