I have been thinking about this for over 3 years now. Under the right system and with the right defensive players around him, Why can't Korver be the next Reggie Miller, if he is running screens all game long and asked to take 20 shots a game.

not only does he have a great jump shot like Reggie, but he is also clutch like Reggie. Korver hit a hand full of game winners with Chicago last season and he hit one tonight.

i'm not saying that the Hawks should go that direction, but i think it would just be interesting if one GM decided to do the experiment and money ball an NBA team.

You're really asking, "Why can't Korver be a star?" because our entire defense would have to be built around supporting him. Seems to me, if we featured him at SG, we'd have to play a zone and if we made him our star at SF, we'd have to trade Smith for a big Center.

No team has the guts to do it anymore.

There is no reason that any great catch and shoot player couldn't do it if the coach was able to convince the others that their role of setting screens is fine.

I'm extremely happy Korver's given so much playing time and shots. I was afraid he will be at the end of the bench but him starting and scoring over 20pts is grat. Talking about KK being clutch... Still can't find one game he played as a Sixer. It was edit-triple OT against Celtics and he made some incredible shots. My favourite Korver game ever!

OH he definetly can hes a beast and the best player the hawks have

how about that for building a team to support him

Really? Reggie Miller is the best off the ball player in the history of the NBA. Did any of you guys actually watch him? No slight on Kyle, I think he is severely under-appreciated, but there is no way he could run like Miller all night long. Miller was a sneaky mofo, holding jerseys, a master of misdirection, was tough for his skinny frame, and he had some of the biggest gonads this side of MJ.

Reggie Miller does not get the love he deserves. If you combined Korver's shooting with prime Rip Hamilton's (or Ray Allen's) off the ball work, you might get something resembling Reggie. Maybe throw some of Bruce Bowen's dirty tactics in there for good measure.

You are comparing Kyle Korver with Reggie Miller. Ask yourself, "Am I feeling alright?"

I'm a little confused, was it Reggie Miller or Kyle Korver that Kobe said was the hardest player to guard? Get back to me with an answer. Wanting Korver to be featured in Reggie's role is like me wanting the Celtics to feature Jared Sullinger in the same role as Kevin Love or Avery Bradley in the same role as Joe Dumars. Pfft.

I think both of you are right. Parson is right Korver never stops running. That's the first thing that will hit you in the eyes when you're watching him. Almost every Hawks possesion ends up with KK waving his hands unguarded.

R2H is right that Korver can't run LIKE Reggie Miller. He was quicker, faster, nastier. As he said- holding jersey, little elbow here, little push there...
But I disagree he doesn't get the love... Comme on. He was five time all-star, three times 3rd all-NBA. Hardly top 20 player of his generation. (Not properly used word. He crossed generations from Magic, Kareem, Bird, Jordan to Shaq, Kobe and LeBron. So I mean from 1987-2005- not top 20). Thinking of that hardly top 30, maybe 40... And he got gold medal, he's member of hall of hame and one the greatest NBA moments ever (Yes, talking about you, Spike...)

Thank you. I never said Korver is as good as Miller was; I was responding to a claim that he doesn't run constantly.

It's also important to note that Miller had players who set much, much better picks than Korver has. His offense WAS built around him. Korver is an ancillary player in a motion offense.

Because he had the talent to carry an offense. Korver does not.
