Player of the Game

Post#1 » by ATL Boy » Thu Jan 17, 2013 8:47 pm

Sorry that this is late and that I couldn't do the last player of the game vs Utah, I'll just give that one to Devin because he scored 25 against his former team and went 7-8 from the field which is amazing. Great win last night without Josh, I was at the game and sat only 3 rows behind the Nets bench.

Josh Smith (7)
Al Horford (6)
Zaza Pachulia (2)
Kyle Korver (2)
Devin Harris (2)
Jeff Teague (1)

Notes: Al Horford is back to his old self looks like, his jumper was automatic, his post moves were fluent, and at times he just did whatever he wanted against Lopez, Humphries, Evans and whoever else guarded him. Al finished with 17 points on 7-12 shooting and he had 13 rebounds; there was a period in the first quarter where after Al went out we gave up about 5 or 6 offensive rebounds in 3 possessions, when he came back in order was restored and we started rebounding better.
Zaza Pachulia had one of the best nights of his career in terms of overall productivity, he scored 13 points on 5-8 shooting, racked up 11 rebounds (a stellar 6 of them on the offensive glass) and came 2 assists shy of a triple double with 8. He recorded his 8th assist early in the 4th quarter but just couldn't get any more afterwords, halfway through the 4th the 6th man was chanting "we want Zaza." Great game nonetheless by big Z.
Jeff Teague had a career night: he had 28 points on 12-18 shooting and he recorded 11 assists, those are Chris Paul numbers!! Teague benefited most of all from Josh's suspension as he took free control of the offense and made it work like a well oiled machine, no doubt if Josh does get traded or leaves during FA Teague will continue to benefit most of all. His defense was stellar as well: he held perennial all star Deron Williams to just 12 points on a horrid 5-18 shooting, 2-9 from 3 point land.
Devin Harris rounds out the contestants with his wonderful night against his former team: he had 18 points on 6-11 shooting, he added 5 assists and played some good D with 4 steals. and he guarded Joe well early in the game. Devin played very well in the game getting to the rim at will and making the Nets defense look a step slow, it was very fun to watch, he also had by far the best +/- rating in the game with +24 I'd like very much for us to resign Devin this summer, his explosiveness is just what we need.

Just missed the cut:
Lou Williams who had 11 points on 5-8 shooting and who helped seal the game with a wonderful 4th quarter.
Larry Drew who helped adapt the team with no Josh tonight
The Hawks 6th man fan section for their Kim Kardashian cutout, classic.

lmao...poor Kris Humphries. He's a d0uche, but he really doesn't deserve the abuse he gets. Especially since his wife is now preggo for another man.

J Teague was unstoppable. Clear choice for POG.

Honorable Mention to L Drew for not letting an ugly situation get worse.

I gave it to ZaZa. I thought he had the 9th assist on the Teague jumper real late. I guess that was number 8.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.
