Free agents to get or re-sign if Dwight doesn't come?

If Dwight doesn't come, then their is no reason for Chris Paul to come, and their is no reason for Ferry to resign Josh.
If the Ferry ends up with zero super stars coming to Atlanta this summer the Hawks still have alot of great pieces to build with (but not around).
since the Hawks will have a lot of cap, i wouldn't mind in re-signing and slightly over play Korver, Zaza, and Teague
that will have a core of
Zaza
Horford
Korver
Louis
Teague
Jenkins
that is six good players that will get you into the playoffs, but defiantly not compete with Miami or Chicago
Here is a list of 3rd tier free agents that could contribute to the Hawks:
Al Jefferson - low post offensive threat that would create a lot of open looks for all of the Hawks shooters
Paul Millsap - Horford would still have to remain at center, but Millsap has a better all around game than Jefferson
Tyreke Evans - SF that could replace Josh and his skill set of penetrating and creating could get a lot of open looks for all of the Hawks shooters
Andre Iguodala - defensive SF would wouldn't get in the way of Louis and Teague
Nikola Pekovic - legit 7 footer and we could finally slide down Horford to PF for the whole season.

We dont have to sign anyone this year we can wait next year. The only guy that I like that is available is pek but he most likely will stay in minny.

+1. If we don't sign Pekovic (Who I really want) then lets just go the Dallas route and sign a bunch of 1 year guys and wait for a star studded 2014 Class. Wade? Lebron?! (I hate Lebron but would learn to love him if he came to Atlanta)

Good post TCorbin.
I really like Tyreke. He is a PG/SG however, which adds to the logjam. (He's only 6'5") Since he's a restricted Free Agent, Sac is unlikely to just let him walk for nothing. We could trade Josh now for Evans and Jason Thompson. This fills our need for a starting Center and a starting SG.
Al Jefferson is also a good fit for us.
Kevin Martin could be a good pickup should we miss out on Evans and lose Korver.

Or even maybe Tyreke and Cousins for Josh and Teague ...
Cousins- zaza- Petro
Horford- Jonhson- Scott
Korver- Stevenson- Tolliver
Tyreke- Morrow- Jenkins
Harris- Pargo-Tyreke

I think I'm entitled to my pipe dreams, especially after everyone's been talking about Dwight and Paul coming to Atlanta

Other more achievable options and good fits would be Dorrell Wright and Samuel Dalembert.
I would love to have Tyreke or Pekovic but doubt we can get them

I'd hate Tyreke Evans - I'm done with the guys who aren't PGs but have to have the ball in their hands all the time - plus, he'd never fit in Drew's offense.
I'd love Pekovic, but we'd have to be willing to pay him a max and hope no one else is willing to do that. Unfortunately, I really believe that MIN will do whatever it can to keep him in order to keep Love.

We missed out on rudy gay. he was a superstar we needed to help us get to that next level. If we dont get dwight then we must go after al jefferson. Him and Horford would be a good combo. And we would have to make a choice between tyreke evans, O.j mayo and monte ellis. I like mayo out of the three. Resign teague and pachulia, add a corey brewer for a defensive stopper. We would be ready to compete with the top teams in the east.

None of those are bad moves. But I think that might be going all in on competing right now.
Rome wasn't built in a day. If we miss out on the Big 2 of CP3 and Dwight, then I say we take a measured approach. Take our time and build a winner the right way.
Just because we have tons of cap space doesn't mean we have to spend it all this year.
Miami has 2 seasons top before the new CBA forces them to break up the Big 3.
Brooklyn has 2 seasons before JJ's inevitable decline begins.
Chicago will be a contender for a while.
Boston is no longer a contender.
But I think it'd be smart to pace ourselves and time our ascent with the fall of Miami. Once they fall, we'll own this division.
OJ Mayo on the court seems like an intriguing prospect. But OJ Mayo off the court has always been a flake and a primadonna.
I've also been really impressed with what JJ Hickson has been doing at center in Portland. I think there's a good chance we make a strong pitch for him; I've heard JJ and DFerry still have a good rapport from their CLE days.
Corey Brewer would fit nicely as our starting SF.

What is the fascination with AL jefferson? He wont help this team get to the next level.
Everywhere he went the fans have hated him. His defense is poor you can say he is a liability at that end, he is a mediocre rebounder (he doesnt box out either) and even though hes has good footwork/post moves he an inefficient scorer.
Just like smoove he is a player that could of benefited by going to college cause his IQ is pretty poor.
I much rather prefer pek

The Hawks didn't miss out on Rudy, they dodged a bullet on Rudy Gay.
Rudy Gay is Joe Johnson version 2.0, he is a "#2", 20ppg scorer, who has a max contact and is massively overpaid.
the Hawks don't need to get into another bad contact situation and over pay average players again. the only max contacts the Hawks should be handing out is to Dwight and Josh.

Dwight Howard is NOT coming to Atlanta and neither is CP3. I think we can all give up on that fantasy now.
Howard reportedly does not want to play in his hometown of Atlanta, and the Mavericks have been trending in the wrong direction from a few months ago.
Howard will go to the Nets or Rockets IMO. I doubt he stays in LA, he has no interest in playing for Atlanta

Thanks for setting us straight. Really, I don't know what we must have been thinking. I'll call Ferry now.

I just find it funny that people think this fantasy of D12 coming to Atlanta is possible. Its not happening. We will ahve a ton of cap space , but i really dont know who we can sign because the 2 biggest FA will be CP3 (staying in LA) and D12 (not coming to ATL).
Id like to go after OJ Mayo. But lets assume Smoov is resigned or traded. We will need big guys and athletic guys. Who is left?

**** getting more PFs we need BIGS (centers) . we need to move on from the 2 small PF frontcourt. We need to either get a C in the offseason, through trade, or wait until the next offseason.
Tired of our team being undersized and getting punked in the paint.
