Rest versus Momentum for the Playoffs

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Mon Apr 8, 2013 4:54 am

So it's apparent L Drew has decided that health is the overall most important aspect as we head into the postseason. Thus we should expect to see some fairly ugly losses and our key guys play limited minutes over the last few games.

It's frustrating to watch the losses pile up, but he's pulled this before with pretty impressive results.

Two years ago, in his first season as coach, he essentially tanked the last 6 games as we ended the regular season on a 6-game losing streak. We did, however, come out strong and beat our archnemesis (Orlando Magic) in 6 games. This was a year after the Magic had defeated us in the most dominating 4-game sweep in the history of the NBA.

We would follow that up by winning the first game of our second round series against CHI and playing a pretty competitve series. Though we'd lose in 6 games, those two (2nd round) victories were the closest this franchise has ever been to the Conference Finals. Hell, that marked the first 2nd round victory the team has seen this CENTURY!!!

So, you guys on board with resting up for the playoffs?

Anyone here from the Mike Smith School of "try to win 'EVERY GAME' for the sake of momentum"?

If we rest our players, fall into 7th place and get swept by the red hot New York KNicks, will that change anyone's mind?

Or should we be maneuvering to get that 5th seed in hopes of taking down the less imposing Brooklyn Nets?

I don't really care who we face in the first round, rest is the key, this strategy has worked before so I'm all for it

Our bench showed that they have a lot of fight which our previous benches didnt have at all. So im sure we can keep hold of the 6th seed while resting our starters

We already are on a 3 game losing streak which saw us fall from 5th to 6th place.

While the rookies played well last game, I have no faith in Mack, Tolliver, Petro and Jones to hold down the fort.
