Hawks vs. Bucks

This may be the worst game our PGs have played, together, all season. Forget the #s, they're both either drugged with barbiturates, severely injured or just don't care. 8 turnovers in one half between the 2 of them (team has 15 total), poor decisions, sluggish play; they look apathetic. Really, when Horford and Smith are leading the break and Teague jogs up LAST, something's wrong.
Oh, and MIL's 11 - 18 from 3. Smith's playing mostly inside, shooting 6 - 9. Horford has 10 rebounds already. Ivan is a man. Towards the end of the half, the team seemed to become demoralized by all the MIL 3s. They just can't miss.

LD needs to utilize his bench just a bit more

And, all of a sudden, Monta Ellis is trying to stupid-play us right back into the game. Bless him.

Hey, who's been guarding Ilyasova?
We're playing mostly zone.

Curious substitution by Drew: Harris is hot and leading us but he gets subbed by Jenkins. Meanwhile, Teague is playing as a SG (with dumb PG choices - he keeps jumping up and then trying to find someone to pass to), but we keep him in.
Result? Bucks regain the edge. Smith and Horford are keeping us in right now.
(Edit: Okay, Harris just needed a break. Drew puts him right back in for Teague. Harris hits a 3.)

Looks like Smith is going to end up leading the team in scoring for the season. He's playing well and doing his thing inside.
It's a shame he still won't just focus on doing that for an entire season.
Maybe he'll do it through the playoffs and help us pull an upset of the Mighty Indiana Pacers.

Smith playing well: no turnovers, mostly smart shots (only 2 I remember that were questionable) and very strong play inside. Helps that Horford is cleaning the boards (15 rebounds with another qtr to go).

Horford takes the ball, Illyasova on his back 18 ft from the basket, and quickly backs him down and dunks on him. Totally overpowers him.
Rathbun screams, "Al dunks the ball AND Illyasova!"

Teague not playing PG very well but he's killing the Bucks while playing like a SG. He can drive on them at will.

How the h3ll did Devin take 19 shots?
And miss 14 of them?!?
Teague with a man's double double. (24 & 10)

Dominique and I thought Harris' shots were all good looks. They just didn't go in - until the 4th.

Good win, we need momentum going into the Indiana series. If Josh plays like he did tonight we'll win the series

Smith seems to be playing much better lately. Maybe another reason Ferry kept him is the hope he'd play smarter in his contract push, which coincides with our playoff push.

If you are correct maybe ferry is more intellectual than we all know.

Agreed. Sure he's driven us crazy for 8+ seasons. And we were cursing his name just a week ago.
But maybe these 2 games against sub -.500 teams are proof that Smoove has turned a corner...
That seems likely.

Don't worry, Grimey. Josh is saving his behind the back passes for the playoffs.
No use screwing up in games nobody's watching.

You laugh but dumb play will net him maybe $15 million/year while smart play in the playoffs will earn him perhaps a max deal. Wouldn't you behave for an extra $4 million+ per year?

potential suitors already know what they are going to get when they sign josh. A player who is inconsistent, can impact the game in many ways, can win you and lose you games, has low IQ, and can be a headcase.
Playing well for 1 month or a playoff series wont change the image he has portrayed for 9 seasons.
Under no circumstances will he get a max deal especially under this new CBA.
