We Need a CENTER, big men are coming off the board........

Post#1 » by PandaKidd » Thu Jul 4, 2013 4:04 am

D12 i think we all agree is going to sign with Houston or LAL (maybe Dallas but I dont think so).

Al Jefferson is being reported to be waiting on D12 to make his decision before he chooses Dallas or ................THE BOBCATS.

Asik in a S&T may not happen because Rockets want to move BOTH Lin and Asik which I dont believe we will do.

Who is left?

JJ HIckson
PEKOVIC
Bynum

Im be happy with either of the top 2, not sure on Bynum unless there is virtually no other option and we pay him like 1 year 5 million lol

If we cant land a center..........

If we don't get Howard, I say play 'em. If we invested in a real NBDL team based in the Southeast that would be a good option, but a shared Utah Flash, won't do them as much good.

Pekovic is a RFA that MIN is expected to match.

The reason that PORT is willing to let Hickson go is that he isn't a C. He's a PF who struggles defensively against C's.

Which leaves us with Bynum on your list.

Muscala will probably end up being another 2nd round Gortat, Zaza, Asik, or David Lee.

what about claiming Tyrus Thomas off of amnesty wavers. He is big can block shots.......... that is about it. not sure how more years he has on his contract, but if we can get him on a partial waiver claim I think it could be worth it. If we fail to get Howard. Even if we get Howard he would be a ok back-up.

Maybe 4 million a year.

Great question.
I fear courting Dwight may have cost us other top Free Agents.

Options include Brandan Wright (we are rumored to have interest.)
Tim Mozgov
Byron Mullens
Dalembert
Austin Daye
Jermaine O'Neal

Or...God forbid...

Andrew Horatio Bynum

Not very appealing.

Hard to know when you're being serious. You just named an allstar candidate, a good backup Center, another allstar candidate and an allstar. Are you saying Muscala will be somewhere between a good backup and an allstar for us?

And how're you coming with that "proof" that we're tanking? Korver chose to take LESS money per year from us than from MIL. Made it clear he didn't want to be part of tanking.

I don't fear losing out on Al Jefferson.

Methinks he's going to be very productive this season.

And will dominate the tiny frontcourts in the SouthEast Division.

And play indifferent defense. Defense is why I want a Center.

I think Brandan Wright can be a steal, if signed for the right contract, but it won't certainly happen before Howard story ends. I hope it won't be too late.

^^^ good idea.

Id love to get Bogut or Asik. I think both of them are exactly what we need if we dont land D12. Big strong centers, who can dunk and rebound but wont screw up spacing for Horford.

Jamaal, at this point, i really amd starting to think Ferry may resign Josh Smith. If we lose D12, and let Smoov walk, WTF are we going to do? we will be smaller in the front court than we were last year! (barring no Asik, no Bogut, no Pek, no Milsap, no Bynum)

I mean it looks like to me we may have close to the same team we had last year.............I dont see how we DONT resign ZAZA at this point either

Zaza's return does seem inevitable.

Re-signing Josh would be such a short-sighted move. We're not contending for anything this year, I'd rather just go with Muscala/Mullens/Zaza at Center than re-sign Smoove.

Bogut's main problem is his injury history. When you have only played around 1/4 of the games you could the last 2 years, that throw up huge red flags.
