Stein Reporting that ATL/MIL discussing Teague/Jennings

Post#1 » by theatlfan » Mon Jul 8, 2013 7:32 am

I'll believe it when I see it. 2x SNTs are about as common as undisputed Bigfoot sightings. The kicker to this though is even more interesting: Monta Ellis going to SAC which would be a huge relief.

The other rumor of the night is that GSW and DEN are engaging in talks to make Igoudala a SNT in which UTH would SNT Randy Foye to DEN.

I don't believe this either, Teague is a better player than Jennings and isn't asking for as much

I don't think Ferry cares much for Teague though. He lined up a PG in the draft (Neto was the promise, I think we got Scroeder when Drew took the Greek emigre SF) and hasn't had a problem being linked to others. Jennings is young, has consistently gotten better (until this season with the disastrous Jennings/Ellis pairing) and is supposedly a better defender than stats indicate (once again, the Jennings/Ellis pairing was a really bad plan).

Not saying that if I was in charge, this would be the move I'd be discussing, but if it did happen, I wouldn't see it as a disaster either. Simply adding Ellis for $10M, OTOH, would be a complete disaster IMO.

EDIT: I should note that the actual article does state that the discussions have yet to reach the "serious" stage yet.

I'll go on record saying this would make me sad as a Hawk fan/supporter. I hope this is just a bunch of bored people needing something to occupy their time. Teague>>>>Jennings.

They were mainly paired, but MIL got -12.1pts on 100 possessions with Jennings on the floor, and +3.5 when Ellis on the floor.
One succeed to play with the other, the other one can't (and I'm not a fan of Ellis)

Interesting to note that Ellis is like the other main players of MIL :
Dunleavy : +7.5
Sanders : +4.7
Ilyasova : +3.3

Jennings played mainly with these four guys, got a -12.1 and they end all being in positive numbers... it means a lot on how good they were playing without him on the floor

Even if is better that what we saw this season, getting him has to be viewed as a potential big problem.

Want to know the previous season : nearly the same thing
I know bad pairing can create problems like that, but if MIL doesn't want him and that other teams are signing him, there's a reason and these kind of numbers can't be ignore, especially for a supposed starting PG

Sign Curtis Jerrells and Beno Udrih.

Let Teague go to Milwaukee. Let Jennings stay where ever he is.

Why overpay for either when Jerrells and Udrih can accomplish what Teague or Jennings can for much less.

Keep the money available for pursuing a center.

Sign a SG/SF who can create for others and himself off the dribble: Chris Douglas-Roberts or Terrence Williams

Are you guys and Milwaukee trying to sign each other's worst players? I see they signed Pachulia...now you guys can't decide between Ellis and Jennings?

I would hope Ferry realized that Teague is worth more and demands more in return than just Jennings.

Why can't Jerrells and Udrih, playing the 48 mins at pg, give you 21 ppg and 10apg?

What lack in their games will stop this from happening?

Jennings nor Teague is better than Jerrells.

I've been watching Douglas-Roberts since Memphis.

Watching Williams since Louisville.

What skills are they lacking that will stop them from creating off the dribble?

I'm not gonna bother explaining why a guy who can't even average 18/5 in the D-League won't be able to do so against NBA competition.

Teague > Jennings, we better not do this trade.

What player didn't average 18/5 in the d-league? Jerrells has avg 19.6/5.6 over his d-league career.

I follow hoops around the world.

Realgm has Jerrells #4 as Euroleague Most Improved.

"4. Curtis Jerrells - Besiktas Istanbul

2012-13 (Euroleague): 14.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 31 minutes

2011-12 (Euroleague): 8.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 21 minutes

Curtis Jerrells established himself as a Euroleague star in his third season overseas and proved he can lead a team in the strongest European competition. Playing under Erman Kunter, the former Baylor guard raised his value by becoming one of the best lefty point guards in Europe."

He is very, very Mike Conley

Jerrells and Udrih can do 21 and 10 easily

Factually speaking...

In 90 professional starts:
Jerrells
.565 TS%
.522 EFG%
16.64 PER

My opinion is based on facts.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Jennings, but it's not only who's the best, money counts, and maybe we are at a point where MIL would agree to pay Teague 7.5M and Ferry is OK for Jennings at 5M. Technically, it works and you get 1M more of cap room since Teague cap hold is 6M.

If it allow to get another player that makes more improvement than you lose from Teague to Jennings, it can be understood. But I still don't want to gamble on Jennings.

Jennings isn't going to take $5M, dude has an overinflated ego.
