Growing belief we're getting Asik...

Post#1 » by parson » Sat Jul 20, 2013 1:25 am

I know, I'm fantasizing. BUT this interview of Al Horford (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... G6Q#at=221 ) entitled " Al Horford on Being the Centrepiece in Atlanta, Motivation, New Teammates & More! Hoopsfix Fan Q&A" is quite interesting.

In it, he says he'd like to play PF and the 2 Centers he'd most prefer to play with are Joakim Noah and ... Omer Asik. Add that we picked up Millsap, who doesn't fit here (if Horford is going to play PF) but fits very well in HOU and you have me jumping to conclusions.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

If Ferry flips Milsap to HOU for Asik mid season, I'll never question Ferry again. THat's how brilliant a move it would be.

I know you and had this discussion earlier but Horford's comments re-fueled my suspicions.

If the AJC had a Hawks beat writer, he could ask Horford if he knows anything.

I would LOVE a Milsap for Omer trade, although it almost makes TOO much sense. Omer would give us a very well balanced front court and would allow Bud quite a few options in playing big or small. It does seem very interesting that Horford would mention Asik specifically out of all the centers out there, considering he's not exactly a household name, nor one of the consensus top centers in the league. The anticipation over these next few months is going to be agonizing...

Also intersesting that hey are pursuing Camby. If they have Asik and DH, why Camby? Because DH / Millsap / Camby works.

Guys, if you recall the press conference for Millsap, you will remember how much Ferry raved about his work ethic and character being exactly what he wants on this team. I just don't see him flipping Millsap for Asik when he feels so strongly about this guy in the first place. I like the idea of getting Asik, but I just don't think Ferry will give up Millsap to get him.

For what it is worth I think an Asik trade is much more likely for Milsap than for Ryan Anderson or Ersan Illyiasova.

^Thanks for the encouragement. Millsap WOULD look better alongside Howard. I remember that - when Anderson was with the Magic and Howard - DH complained about not having enough help inside on defense or with rebounding.

^1. Houston ain't getting rid of Parsons anytime soon.

2. Horford is worth way more than that.

3. Korver is a better shooter than Parsons

4. This trade makes us terrible.

I'm glad you guys are starting to get some common sense and starting to believe what i have been telling you for months, when Paul was signed, Millsap and his two year deal will be used as trade bait by Ferry in the near future

Don't you think we're tanking? Weren't you implying that we're gonna flip Millsap for picks?

makes no sense to have all these big men you keep signing and you need a SF and yet you pass on them ...

brand.noguiera,horford,millsap,muscala,atric at bigs

schroder,teague,lou will.jenkins,cunningham,korver at smalls...

your lacking SF depth there...sure millsap can play there in a pinch....but you basically have korver as a true SF....nothing behind him

would make sense to move a big man for a very good SF and another piece

Asik still has good trade value, just because you trade for him at the deadline, you can still trade him again later on during the draft. but yeah i agree, it doesn't have to only be Asik, it can be for anybody who can be used as an asset as a player or trade, later on.

Well, he can't honesty argue that we're tanking, so he's got to grab for something.
