Horford injured.

Early in the 1st overtime, Varejao - somehow - injured Horford on an inbounds play. Varejao and Horford were wrestling for position, Varejao got his arm under Horford's armpit, lifted his arm ... and Horford doubled over. I didn't see how it happened but - forgive the fake doctor's diagnosis - Horford was holding his arm like he'd dislocated his shoulder.
Since then - silence.
I thought I'd create this thread so anyone who had heard anything (maybe someone who can pick up Hawks radio?) could help out.

Nothing explicit, but:
Millsap was especially big after Horford left in the first overtime with a right shoulder injury
From the AJC write-up.
http://www.ajc.com/weblogs/atlanta-hawks/2013/dec/27/three-keys-127-125-2ot-win-over-cavaliers/Not official, but a shoulder injury is less worrisome than another pectoral injury/tear.
Poor AL gets so beat up every year now it seems.....we need to get a Center.

So I hear news on Westbrook, but with Al, I feel like I'm pacing the floor in the waiting room.

There are some reports that it could be another Torn Pec.

That is...brutal.
Hopefully, when he comes back (however long that may be) he won't have to play Center anymore. I doubt he'd have torn anything guarding Tristan Thompson....
Dude leads us in Points, rebounds, blocks, FG%, PER....he was quietly having his finest season to date.
Last time he had a torn pectoral he came back in time for the Playoffs....
Still hope it's a strain or simple shoulder separation. Either way, hope he gets back healthy and returns before the end of the season.

This is why I have been begging for the hawks to get a center. We are going to shorten this guy's career. It was foreseen by his own father who begged us not to play him a center. His height isnt the problem its his BODY. He doesnt have the body to take physical punishment. It was ok for him to be a center temporary but long term hes going to break down.

Ya he can play some centre during the game, but ATL needs a starting centre bad
C / Horford
Horford / Millsap
That would be a sick big man rotation if they could get a legit centre.

I guess Ayon will start at Center if he's healthy.
Hawks should sign Drew Gooden/Varnado/Tyler/Dedmon.

Hate to hear news like this really. East just continues to lose talent.
What's his estimated recovery time?

I am devastated.
Completely. There are no words too express how sorry I am to hear this. For the team. For the player.
And it's compounded by the fact that he's been so damn adamant about getting some bigs in here to man the 5 spot. So he can play against smaller players. And save wear and tear on his body.
He begs for help.
We call him a 'diva' for it.
I am heartbroken. Basketball Gods, make this up to us with a top 3 pick next summer.....and a Healthy AL playing Power Forward for the rest of his career.

This ends that argument, doesn't it?

To every bad situation there's always a silver lining. Hopefully the silver lining here is that our Front Office will finally realize the need for a legitimate starting Center.

Well stated, Adnin.
Ferry can't ignore AL's pleas anymore.

Considering Al's injury would you either tank or do this:
Sap + Rights to Bebe and 2014 2nd to HOU
for
Asik and T.Jones
Asik
Jones
Carrol
Korver
Teague
or trade Cunningham for a future 2nd and bring back Muscala and/ or Bebe for them to gain NBA experience prior to next year?

Al didn't get hurt because he was playing center. He got elbowed in the pec that he tore before. It has nothing to do with playing the center position.
