Blatant Disrespect of the Hawks in the media.

Post#1 » by diesel50 » Sat Jan 11, 2014 11:03 am

Not too long ago, we beat the Pacers. The headline of one of the media outlets read " Hawks Stuns Sluggish Pacers". Another headline read " Korver''s 17 leads Hawks past Sluggish Pacers." As I listen to different Broadcast of us against different teams, it's like, they expect us to just lay down and the fact that we're winning is put the whole universe out of kilter.
What you lookin' at? You all a bunch of ****' a-holes. You know why? You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your freakin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy."

Doesn't bother me, they still get props, I understand the Stack & Isiah complemented the Hawks.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Let's be real: what are YOUR expectations of the Hawks without Horford vs. the #1 seed right now in the East? What would you say if you weren't a Hawks fan, and rather a neutral observer?

I wouldn't be making excuses for their win if I was supposed to be objective. Basketball is about matchups. Not about records. Sometimes, you get lucky...somebody is out of their mind shooting, but people need to notice that we play a good brand of defense and offense that's with or without Horf. When Brooklyn beats a team like Miami, there's no talk of Miami being "sluggish". And we have a better record than Brooklyn.

The media expects Brooklyn to beat the Heat with the vets they have. We're an underdog with our roster. The Pacers did come off a string of back to backs also. It doesn't bother me honestly because I don't have high expectations. We better end up with a top 5-8 pick though.

I was at the Pacer game, the headlines are accurate.

The pacers were sluggish and lazy. And they still made a run at the end. The only guy who looked fresh was PG.

I agree they did look exhausted. It looked like it was going to be a blowout from the very beginning. They only ended up scoring like 30 points at halftime.

The pacers have been terrible this year when it comes to playing the 2nd game of a back to back. they were coming off a back to back from Toronto. I know it must of been tiring flying from T-Dot to Atl overnight and playing the same day.

I think you guys are putting too much emphasis into his example of the Pacers game. What he generally means is that in this year, and the past, a Hawks win is typically disregarded, downplayed or displayed as a side effect of the opponent not playing up to par. You are more apt to see headlines of Hawks beat "sluggish" or "shorthanded" team or "Team X blows lead" or "Hawks squeak out a win" than any amount of praise for the Hawks. My answer is that you should be used to it.
