Paul Millsap is an All-Star.

The Hawks power forward was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team as a reserve Thursday after voting by NBA coaches.

The selection means the Hawks, with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference, will be represented at next month’s game in New Orleans.

“It will be a great honor,” Millsap, a first-time All-Star, said Thursday before the league announced the reserves in the evening.

Millsap will be the first Hawks All-Star since Joe Johnson in 2012.

JJ got his 7th All Star selection for helping to pull Brooklyn out of their doldrums sans Lopez and Williams.

Damian Lillard received his first All Star selection as well.

Joe doesn't deserve an all star over Lowry, Stephenson, Teague, or almost anyone else.....

Joe Jesus is catching a whole lot of hate because Lowry was snubbed. However, I'd like to point out that Chris Bosh is a reserve also.
Joe Jesus prolly impressed most coaches because of his clutch play this year. Picking up the struggling Nets and putting them on his back. Building great leads while Deron and Lopez is out and then leading that injured team to a few victories here and there.

However, what has Bosh done?

Millsap is very deserving and I find it amusing that Josh Smith continues to not make it. If he drops the ego and stops attempting so may 3-pointers he would greater his chance.

I didn't expect JJ to get in, but I guess folks can send frustrations to the EC coaches.

Joe Johnson's numbers are pretty weak. I'm not as knowledgeable about this season, because I haven't followed stats as much, but I'm very surprised Joe Johnson elected for the All-Star game this season.

Joe's had a LOT of ESPN highlights.

Agree that he shouldn't be in. Afflalo's numbers are superior, too, and at the same position.

Perhaps, but coaches have always given greater weight to contributing on a competitive, playoff caliber team versus putting up big numbers on a last place squad.

Derozan and Lowry merely split votes for each other.

But let's be honest, Nets will most likely overtake Toronto for that division lead before it's all said and done.

Millsap making it in year one as our starting PF reflects poorly on Josh who toiled here for years but was always snubbed by fans, coaches and the NBA for one reason or another.

I'm actually starting wonder how could Millsap, JJ and Horford could have been here of they'd all played under Coach Bud....

Good for Millsap.

But if people are angry about Lowry and Stephenson being snubbed they shouldn't be turning on Joe, they should be turning on the fan voting system because the fans voted Wade in as a starter. Wade definitely doesn't deserve the nod.
