Pistons rumored to be shopping Josh Smith...

...but are having trouble finding any takers.

Smith, along with Greg Monroe, were reportedly on the trading block, but the Pistons are now determined to keep Monroe instead of the high-flying forward, who was forced to play the majority of his minutes at the small forward spot this season.

But while Smith could make immediate impact on another team this season, an ESPN Insider reported that teams are shying away from dealing for Smith mainly because of his fresh contract. The 28-year-old forward signed a four-year, $54 million contract before the season.

"The Josh Smith experiment in Detroit is not going well, and there's strong opinion around the league that the Pistons would trade him if they could - and "could" is the key word. Since Smith is in the first year of a four-year, $56 million deal, he is one of the most untradeable players in the league," an ESPN Insider noted in his report.

NBC Sports reported that the Boston Celtics or the Phoenix Suns could be a potential trade partner for the Hawks.

Who do either of those teams have that we'd want?

Well...I guess that's what happens when you want to play 2 power and a center as your 1-3 with none of them having a reliable even midrange game.

The Pistons played a Center, 2 Power forwards, a small forward and a point guard tonight...Dumars should be ashamed.

DET got the good Josh tonight: 23 points, 9-16 from the field, 1-3 from 3, 4-5 on FTs, 8 rebs, 7 assists, 1 steal and 4 blocks. I remember when he'd fill up the stat sheets for us. He only shot three 3s and actually made 7 attempts down low. Maybe he's auditioning again...

Weird snippet here... Should this read the "former Hawk"?

They were playing the Nets and everyone was hot. They got the crap kicked out of them by the Magic with the same lineup. They have ONE shooter on the ROSTER. ONE. 15 roster spots and they use only one for a guy that can consistently hit a jumpshot. On a team where a Center and 2 power forwards are your big 3.

IF they played their cards right, there a slew of bad contracts that they can take on in trade for Smoove. Don't let the news report fool you.

I can easily see GWallace and KBogans for Smoove.
Smoove for Udoh and Ilyasova also works.

Maybe a Smoove/Pope mixture will net Rudy Gay...

Point is that there are some albatrose contracts and some bad player mixes that Detroit can take on.... Smoove has good days and bad day but what he needs more than anything is a coach who is able to just sit him and punish him for doing Smoove-like things until he gets it. He has never had that.

Joe Dumars is sooooooo fired. Hard to believe that he bet his future on Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings. Considering how he got lucky TWICE with drafting big men, he should be sitting pretty instead of ... dead man walking.

You have to admit that it was a better bet than Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva...

If you had Monroe (as trade fodder) and enough money for 2 expensive FAs, I know you'd have done better.

He's grasping for straws at this point to save his job. He's fired Cheeks after only 3 months and now he's attempting to trade his big free agent acquisition.

Apparently ownership really loves the guy and is giving him every chance to fix his failures. They need to trade Monroe, though. Could be a good opportunity for us to acquire cheap talent...

Give us some expiring deals and your 2014 pick and he's all yours.

Thanks for the head's up. Jeff Green would be a welcome fit to our squad. I'm doubtful (hopeful) we'll manage to keep our 2014 1st rounder in any acquisitions we pursue. Particularly, since we get to swap with BKN should they falter and miss the playoffs.

I hear speculation that Teague or Lou Williams may be on the move this trade season. Either of those tickle your fancy?

Just more proof, that Josh Smith is pretty much worthless. Pistons having serious buyer's remorse after only 4 months.

The Detroit Pistons made "a serious push to find a new home for Josh Smith" at the trade deadline, according to Chad Ford.

Smith signed a four-year, $54 million contract with the Pistons in the offseason. The addition of Smith has caused issues in the frontcourt due to the presence of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

Monroe will be a restricted free agent in the offseason.

It's worth mentioning, that Ferry attempted to extend this guy to a contract with an even higher annual salary. This will remain a black mark on his record as we suffer through the worst season this town has seen in almost a decade.
