Hawks/Raptors

Pitiful shooting at the beginning by both teams. We're smart enough to adjust and move inside. They're not. 8-2 is the result.
Lou looking good, as a 2 only.

Schröder alert. He's in and looking ok. We seem confident tonight.

Teague just looks like someone who's completely lost faith in his shot. Dennis gives him a nice swing pass and finds him WIDE open at the top of the key and he travels trying to dribble away. He looks like the Jeff Teague from a few years ago during the Joe days.

On our way to our 5th straight loss. If I were Al I'd sit out the rest of the season/playoffs too.

They get offensive rebounds, we get offensive fouls...

Our team is lacking talent big time. Not only have the Raptors passed us in the standings, I'd dare say they've passed us in the talent department.
We can't stand pat. We need to either be buying or selling at the trade deadline.

Hey! When I left, we were looking good. Which one of y'all went to sleep and let this happen?

I'm pretty sure this loss is josh's fault. Not sure how, but it just feels like his fault.

The real fault is not having a 2 who's taller than 6'2". DeRozan has no one to defend him. Either we use a short SG or we try a PF like Martin.

But I definitely agree that we have got to do something at the deadline. I'd personally like for us to be sellers, this team is a first round exit waiting to happen, we might as well use Al's injury to our advantage and get a nice lotto pick in a very good draft class this year.

We now have a losing record for the season. On this 5 game losing streak, we're averaging a lowly 85 ppg.
We need an upgrade in talent.

When we field a team where Tyler Hansbrough is the best big man on the court, Danny Ferry needs to apologize.
Tired of saying it, but we are pitifully small. Really, there's no excuse. It's as if Ferry said, "Forget about it. Let's set up for ... maybe next year ... or the one after that. Who watches the Hawks, anyway?"

If we do nothing for the trade deadline, then that will mean that Ferry has decided to play for a lottery pick. Which is stupid, considering we might not make it even if we tank the rest of the way ... and it'll be impossible to reach better than 12-14.

Do we know what happened to Millsap? Rathburn said they were looking at his wrist but then I didn't hear anything else. If Millsap's out, how are we going to be sellers?
But it's going to be hard to get into the lottery after the start we had.

We only have 4 losses less than 9th place Detroit. If we stay on our skid we're probably gonna have a 1st round date with Indiana or Miami and the result will be an ugly sweep. Settling for middle of the pact picks and relying on FA won't really get us anywhere, we have to convince FAs to come to Atlanta and I don't really think we can do that with the big time Free Agents. I've never liked the thought of wasting a year tanking but with Al's injury this is a wasted year anyway.

If Millsap is out, we
HAVE to be sellers, right? Makes no sense to acquire any talent if our top 2 players are unavailable.

It's not wasted if we can develop some players.
If we were tanking, our guys would be fighting each other (and the coach) and crying. All team unity would be out the window. There's no way you can improve players in that situation. Look at MIL, I don't think it's unfair to say that not one player on that team has improved his game from last year - maybe his numbers but not his game.
For example, if we had tanked, Millsap, Carroll and Mack wouldn't have shown anything like they have. Millsap's gone from being an backup to being an allstar, Carroll's gone from scrub to a good starter and Mack is looking like a top-tier backup PG (or mediocre starter).

Who are we going to sell if Millsap's out? We have to add someone as a sweetener. Or am I misunderstanding and you mean we should dump our remaining players for nothing? Who's going to give us anything worthwhile for Carroll, considering we're paying him nothing? Korver? Brand? Without Millsap, how will Teague get anymore assists to boost his value?
Budenholzer's created a team of overachievers - lunchpail types. No one spends for them.
