I initially liked the deal when I thought we were just ditching Lou's contract for Salmons, but why are we dealing Bebe? Ugh

I like it. We get more cap space AND get a decent vet AND only have to pay 1 mill of that? Yep, let's get it done.
WHAT!??

He will be cut as this is a pure salary cap saving move. I'm not sure why Bebe was included in the deal though. Maybe they are tired of his antics? Either way, it's a wasted first round pick.
This tells me that Ferry is looking to be aggressive in free agency.

John Salmons has always been a thorn in our side for years. Hope this works out for all parties.

Seems that Bebe fell out of favor here. We clear ~$6M in cap room though meaning we have ~$15M in "real" cap space to make a run at an FA. Seems very clear that this is Ferry's intent - would be interested in knowing his targets.

Project C; very long and athletic but very skinny. Shot blocker - won DPotY in Spain. Not very skilled offensively but has good hands. Had a crazy year this past year though and burned some bridges with his Spanish League team... I think he has to come over this season or else he may not end up anywhere.

?? We either get cap space by waiving Salmons or we get Salmons at $7M next season and actually lose cap space. I think it's fairly obvious that we made the deal with the intent of waiving Salmons.

So who are you guys after with this cap space - please don't say Greg Monroe.

I'm hoping the Hawks make some new some moves in free agency now.

Im pretty sure that after Monday, Salmons will be released. Apparently if he's cut Monday, the Hawks will only owe him 1 mil.

John Schuhmann tweeted that this move will give us 25 million in cap space? Is this true? Seems like a much higher figure than what has been thrown around previously.
edit: He just corrected his post and said its more like $15 million. That sounds right.

I would think Monroe might be a possibility, but with Horford, Millsap, Payne, and Edy, I'm not sure how logical that is.
I am guessing some wings.

with his knee tendinitis and mental make-up, I don't think Nugiera has much value or is that great of a prospect
I think you guys should go hard after Parsons, Ariza or Bledsoe

Sorry, nothing too eye opening and nothing that would turn off a fan, but it was a series of things. I don't know if we told him he needed to add weight or if he just gleaned it off the media when he was stateside, but he spent a lot of time in the weight room over the off-season. His coach in Spain was not happy with the weight gain and publicly called him out saying that he'd get hurt. Well, he gets hurt (tendinitis - hammy IIRC). Instead of remaining with his team to work it out, he "suspends" his contract and comes to the states to get treatment. His primary care was with an outfit out of LA, but he worked with our team doctors as well. I can't remember the length of time he was here, but it was a while - a month or two. He went back and finished with the Spanish team, but I do seem to recall the team not being happy with Nogueira and made strong hints that they'd prefer he play elsewhere this season if he stayed in Europe.
For a team like us that scouts the EuroLeagues heavily, I just think we didn't want the PR hit we took with Nogueira. Now, we can at least play the "we thought it was BS too, so we took the next guy and dealt Nogueira" when we draft someone else from the team.
