Doug McDermott to the Hawks

Ferry needs to throw the Hawks' hat in the Carmelo or Lebron sweepstakes just show fans he cares about winning. I like the effort, but when all is said and done Carmelo and Lebron will go some where else and Ferry can still pick up some gem lop sided trades to help a team in need of cap.

Right now the Bulls don't have the cap to offer anything to Lebron or Carmelo but the Hawks can help by...

Hawks 1st round pick for McDermott, Dunleavy, and Greg Smith.

I was also looking into the Houston situation, and their is really no way i would want to waste any cap on Jeremy Lin.

It's an interesting thing, but you should edit the title with " ? " or anything else because at this moment, it's like you're announcing that he's coming to ATL and that the trade is done ;-)

The Bulls spent 2 draft picks in the first round for Douggie Mcbuckets. Hes not leaving Chicago. He is their insurance policy if Melo doesnt sign there. They can amnesty Boozer (or SnT) and find anyone to take someone like Dunleavy.

They will have no issues signing Melo.

Ferry cant offer to people who arent interested.

^ Bulls can't sign McDermott, because his rookie contract will eat into the cap, which will only leave the Bulls with 18 million in cap for Melo.

They arent renouncing the rights to a first round draft pick they gave up 2 picks to acquire.

1) They wont MAX Melo, he will have to take a paycut
2) They WILL trade or Amnesty Boozer (frees up 16.8 MIllion)
3) They WILL trade Dunleavy (3 Million)

Doug Mcdermonts Cap Hold is only $1,898,300. Do the math.

I think Dunleavy is replaced by Douggie
Boozer is replaced by Melo

D21 is the Cap Expert, so he can correct me if I am wrong. Bulls are GOING to amnesty/trade Boozer no matter what, that will allow them to sign Doug + Melo or Doug alone

^ Chicago trade two pick to move up, because it would be easier to trade one rookie than two rookies.

What I can confirm is that even if he's not signed for now, he has a cap hold, and this cap hold is 100% of the rookie scale, which is $1,898,300

But if he's signed, like most rookie, he would certainly be signed at the maximum allowed of 120%, so $2,277,960
(note that Dennis signed for 100% "only" last year)

As long as he's not signed, he will count for $1,898,300, once he's signed, it will be the amount in his contract, and it will certainly be more 120% than 80% (the lowest amount allowed)

What I find interesting with the CHI case is that if they need to send some players, we could try to get Dunleavy.
I was thinking about that :
- imagine Gasol is asking 10M and Deng is asking 10M
- I would give Gasol 10M, but 8M only to Deng, so we can 't have both
- then, give 10M to Gasol, and try to get guys like Dunleavy, Delfino... even both would cost less than Deng at 8M and we could be better than with Deng.

Instead of having the best possible starting five, maybe it would be better to get a full 10 guys rotation with the best performance/contrat ratio and good Bball IQ,
it would certainly looks more like SAS than MIA, and it's what we are supposed to do.

I'm thinking that if we sign Gasol, we're trading away Millsap. No need to have a $10 million big man on the bench half the game. Doing so allows us to also sign Deng for around $10 million. And this STILL allows us to have $5 million+ to improve the bench.

Horford
Pau
Deng
Korver
Teague

Bench-Carroll, Payne, Antic, Mack, Jenkins, Patterson, Scott (+ another middle free agent). That bench needs work, but the starting 5 can provide dependable offense at every position.

Yes I realize that, but they have several moves to make. They will sign melo AND keep DM. They have no need to trade him over Dunleavy.

I am well aware of why they did what they did.

Not sure, I would try it, then decide to trade Millsap or not at the trade deadline based on what happened.
Imagine it's the perfect rotation to destroy every other team, I don't care having a 9.5M guy coming from the bench, or starting at SF against some teams.

And it would also allow to play Gasol, Al and Millsap 32 minutes each to cover both C and PF spots,
with all being able to pass the ball as needed in our system.

Or we could try to steal Diaw from SAS, he could be a nice fit with all the 3pts shooters we have, he would end each game at 6-7 assists

That rotation does sound pretty nasty. I'd just prefer a lineup where all of our top players can share the court together in crunch time.

The Diaw idea does sound wonderful. Maybe Pero and Payne can get away with manning the that extra PT. And even Mike Scott...should he return.
