In case Melo wants to sign with CHI... Dunleavy

Post#1 » by D21 » Fri Jul 11, 2014 9:27 am

If CHI needs to clear some contracts to get enough to sign Melo,
and if we have some room left,
are you ready to take on the contract of Dunleavy ?

IMO, he's one of the best bargain in the NBA at 3M
I saw him during the playoffs and he still can play, and he can hit the 3s better than other guys we are talking about.

He's always in the best +/- per 100 poss. of his team :
3rd in CHI at +3.9
1st in the two previous year at +7.5 and +9.9 while playing for a loosing MIL but against opponent starters (not scoring in garbage time against bench players).
1st in IND at +6.0

His direct opponents PER on the last four seasons is :
11.7 (CHI), 11.7 (MIL), 11.7 (MIL), 12.9 (IND)
Deng for example had opponents at 14.9 (CHI)/14.4(CLE), 12.5 (CHI), 11.6 (CHI) and 10.5 (CHI)

Combining what I saw and his stats, I can't find a better fit than him at this price.

I completely agree. I think he'd be a good fit in our system.

I don't mind picking up Dunleavy at all, the guy is a 3 point specialist and can still ball at his age. IMO, I think we should get a future draft pick or draft rights of some sort in return because the deal would be too good on chicago's end. Plus this would hurt us in getting a big name FA this off season, if there's still a chance of that.

As with the others, I think he'd be a decent pickup, but let's not go overboard with some of the defensive stats either. We should remember that Dunleavy isn't someone that any team would leave on the opponent's #1 option and, like Deng, has had a DPotY candidate behind him. Just saying this to remember to keep context in mind here - I'd much prefer to put Demarre (PER against in the 13's the past 2 years) m2m against the opponent's #1 than Dunleavy.

He would be a good fit on offense, but no defense, so I do have some concerns.
Talent is talent, so I would support adding him, if the price is right.

If we couldn't get Dunleavy, I would also be open to get Delfino.
Don't know anything about his injury from last year, but the previous season, he was the booster of HOU.
Good at 3s, good defense...

A ? Here: with Bazemore & Thabo along with holdovers Korver & Demarre, are we still in the market for wing depth? If anything, I'd figure that we might be willing to deal from here - specifically Jenkins.

Should have explain more ;-)
With Bazemore added, no need now, but I was thinking of other players in case we make a trade later including one or several wing players. In this case, if Dunleavy was not available, Delfino would be next on my list at this price.
