Random Marvin Williams question

Post#1 » by Koorverfor3 » Thu Aug 14, 2014 12:48 am

Big North Carolina fan, and was randomly digging into old stats from Marvin Williams.

For the record I'm again drafting any type Tweener in the lottery unless they can defend the 3 or 4 at a high level no questions asked. Like Aaron Gordon this year.
Williams showed that same potential, and never once was their a question about him being able to defend on the perimeter.

I'm a big analytic guy..His 3rd and 4th season he really looked like he was coming into his own as a player. From the eye test and with numbers. 6 win shares is very impressive for a 23 year old..puts you in the "3rd best player on a title team range."

Assuming he progressed he could have been something special. He completely tailed off following that season
I also see after that season he got a nice heafty extension. Was he content with getting paid and staying as a 6th man? Lack of effort? Team not utilizing his talents enough, leading him to get disinterested?

Can't say I watched any hawks games at the time, just wondering what went wrong in his developement
"I just told myself whoever was guarding me I was gonna destroy them" D'Angelo Russell said.

I think he just didn't care that much about being better or taking on more responsibilities. He was very content to coast and be just a guy.

The back injury didn't help either.
