Good article on Dennis. Hawks got another trade asset in addition to Teague. He could be the backup PG that net an asset like how SA traded George Hill for Leonard

Good read tho, hope Dennis keeps improving, foreign players usually need more time to adjust, the USA/NBA can be overwhelming I guess. The second season usually provides a good indication of what their actual ceiling is.

I'm not so sure I see the Rondo comparison either. Rondo seems to have remarkably better passing vision, IQ, playmaking ability, and ball handling. Dennis is a nice passer but havnt really seen any flashy passes.

Rondo comparisons come from the size of his hands and length of arms. Rondo has better court vision for sure and that can come with time.

This was the most telling part to me:

Atlanta is conserving Horford’s minutes, and he just hasn’t shown his usual explosion. He’s attempted only 15 free throws in 17 games, and he’s taking more long 2-point jumpers than ever. Horford has never been a huge free throw guy, but that number is alarming. His rebounding numbers are down

Same here. This is definitely a red flag. There were also some other defensive issues Lowe pointed out that tags us nearly dead last in. Which is yet another red flag.

Dennis is being amazing these last couple of weeks. He basically made the Mack signing look a waste of money and time. He's got a long way to go though but when you take into account this is his 2nd year in the league and he's so young, boy he's got a lot of potential.

Well, that's pretty abstract. That's just a description of - a point guard.
What makes Rondo so special is: his elite playmaking/vision and defense.
What makes Dennis so interesting is: his pace and ability to finish at the rim.
I think people compared them because of vague similarities, but not because they actually knew much about Dennis' strengths/weaknesses - about his actual game.

I think there are some overlaps between Dennis and Rondo, but to me he has a bit of Barbosa thrown in.

It doesn't help that they look so similar.

I don't see this playmaking vision. He has been pretty horrible when he focuses on playmaking. He can make some crisp looking passes but has very little vision.

I don't see Barbosa and I don't see Rondo. Dennis is a special talent, that much is clear.

I see it the other way around. Elite court vision, average passer. Not sure what you are watching.

He himself did it. At the draft combine and some pre-draft interviews for german media he was asked how he would describe his playstyle and to who this style is comparable.

Teague is an All Star right now.

Dennis is nothing like Barbosa. Barbosa never looked to pass, he was fast as hell and would put his head down get to the basket and score. Barbosa also plays no defense.
If you look at Dennis' time in Germany he dominated the ball much like Rondo setting up teammates for easy looks. In this offense like the article pointed out he's not required to do that as much.

Still on a high from that big win over CLE. One thing not talked about nearly enough...Schroeder's effectiveness as starting PG.

In his first start, against top competition, he got his first career double-double...including 10 assists vs 1 turnover.

When considering his already impressive season thus far, where do we stand on our belief (as a fanbase) that Dennis is indeed starter material?

Think he can improve from being pretty good at age 21 to being dominant at age 26?

Are those Rondo comparisons looking better 18 months after drafting him?

Should we be looking to trade the kid...or groom him as a future centerpiece?

Can't see dealing Schröder unless the other team agrees that his value is as a future star. Coach Bud's system is PG reliant so having a little depth there doesn't kill us. If someone matches our asking price on either Teague or Schröder then either can be had if the timing is right. Agree with the poster on another thread who says that Teague wouldn't be traded until after the season though.

I don't think we'd deal Teague until 2016 at the earliest, which would be the final year of his deal (barring of course a can't-refuse offer). We can run the two of them like LAC did with CP3 and Bledsoe; once we get to 2016 we'd see where we are as a team, and if we want to move on. At that point, perhaps trades become more relevant.
