December 15th is an important date in the NBA as it's the first day 2014 FAs can be traded. Anyone foresee the hawks making a move?

I think Randy Foye is an interesting expiring contract (he has a team option for 2016 at 3 million). IMO he'd be an upgrade from Shelvin Mack bc Mack seems to struggle a bit when having to play the off-ball guard.

With the recent play of bazemore and the emergence of DS17 mack becomes the odd man out...

We definitely need a traditional back up SG instead of Mack. Honestly I don't see bud actually using his new GM/HC powers this season. But if he were to actually pull the trigger on something I think it would be for our end of the rotation guys. Jenkins & Mack I could see him MAYBE trading. Anyone else I jusyd can't see.

Foye is the answer? I would prefer someone who can actually shoot the ball.

Considering the streak we just had, I can't see Bud messing with the chemistry at all for a trade...unless it was a deal to good to turn downl. (Monroe, Jefferson. etc for scraps.)

He might wait a bit longer and see what's available in a few weeks after we've seen what this team does against the top teams. (Currently only 1-4 against winning teams)

NOTE: If Jenkins isn't included in a trade before the deadline, it's likely he gets waived afterwards...the same way we did Jared Cunningham last season.

Nobody said foye was the answer. simply thought it was an upgrade from mack and a way to create more flexibility moving forward. Foye is a 38% 3-point shooter while mack is shooting a scary 21% from 3 this season.

I was pretty impressed by fournier in both matchups against Orlando. That was a great pick up from the aaflalo trade. Not sure how much Orlando values him but I'd like to see him as Korvers back up instead of Mack.

It wouldn't surprise me if we made a move, but 12/15 is more "fake juice" than an interesting date. The only guys who can be traded are FAs whose team has immediate buyer's remorse. Tough to trade those guys - on the one hand, the GM doesn't want to be seen as dealing off his FA signing for pennies on the dollar before the ink is dry; OTOH, the team that would be trading for the player would want a great deal on a guy who is apparently a horrid fit with his new club. Really, the deals that happen are the ones that have been basically agreed to and the teams just have to wait for the salary filler to become available.

Having said that, if we did make a move, it'd definitely be of the "win now" variety with the coach and the streak. Personally, I'm more than a little scared of any move we'd make. I could see Coach Bud moving some combination of Muscala, Payne, pick/s for a slight upgrade at wing or something along those lines.

Pretty sure that ORL isn't trading Fournier unless they get a deal they simply can't refuse. Fournier was the key piece in the Afflalo deal that everyone overlooked since he hadn't done anything as of yet. Fournier fits in with ORL in age and play style and that along with the trade is why I'm guessing he's the type of piece that their GM is looking to build with. Between Payton, Oladipo, and Fournier, that's a pretty stout G rotation that will be a headache for us for the next 5-10 years.

We get a lot younger and help in 2 areas that Jenkins and Payne currently are not.

^I'm not sure a pairing of Monroe-Millsap is demonstrably better than Millsap-Horford.

And trading Horford when his stock is the aboslute lowest of his entire career seems myopic.

Especially when we could just sign Monroe outright next summer...

Jamaal, hard to see us paying Sap, Al and Monroe.

If DET wants to get something for Monroe before its too late, I don't think they have lots of choices.
I like Al, and it would be hard to convince me Monroe is better, but he's still developing.

And its not been proven that the Hawks will make an in season move.

I would be more shocked with any major move than who the move is for.

We aren't looking for superstar talent, so its about bringing in a couple of guys for one to upgrade the overall talent.

Honestly, I don't think anything close to that happens. I would have preferred Gasol last summer, but what can you do?

I agree. I am of the belief that Millsap is NOT coming back next year.

Monroe could be a replacement for him, and a better partner for AL. If Horford decides to leave in 2016 (or gets traded for better value)...we already have a replacement in Monroe.

Horford is a top 25 player. In his prime. On a cake contract. He has value, even with his struggles this year...he's worth more than 4 months of Monroe and an overpaid Meeks.

AL TAKING us...no.

But along for the ride as a key cog in the machine, I do believe so. Millsap is approaching 30...Monroe has never even been in the playoffs. And AL's production/efficiency is more consistent than either of those guys.

I agree. I believe Bud just need to play Brand more over Antic - that would make a huge difference. Brand's defense is so underrated, going back to his days in DAL.

I would love to see him paired with Millsap and Horford (when he's at PF) sometimes instead of Scott/Millsap, Scott/Horford, Millsap/Antic and Horford/Antic combinations.

Maybe not, don't forget that the Salary Cap will make a big jump in the next years. Players will certainly ask for more, but it will also be easier to add a big contract, and since we have lots of good contracts, why not trying now to add another piece if it can be the missing piece.

I did hear that if Monroe agreed to any inseason trade, he would lose his Bird rights next year. So that would limit his ability for a max contract.
But would I pay Monroe a max contract anyway? No way, especially for a position where defense is needed.

Monroe can "only" get a "first Max contract", so it's a bit limited. And if he has no bird right, he can still ask to start for the same amount, but his raise will be limited to 4.5% instead of 7.5%
The only way he can get the 7.5% is re-signing with DET, staying with them or being sign-&-traded.

But since he didn't ask for a Max contract, I think he prefers a good team with 30 minutes and 12M than 15M to stay with DET and Drummond (both are better at C, but can't play C at the same time...).
