Kent Bazemore
Came on this morning expecting to see platitudes for Bazemore. With Schröder out and Mack hurt, he got a lot of burn as the backup PG and played decently. He brought the ball up, triggered the O, hit some big shots, and was bothersome on D. Really thought that he proved that we could use him as a #3 PG depending on his the roster shakes out down the road. Not saying we should look to deal Mack or anything, but assuming Schröder continues to progress, I wouldn't think we'd be hanging up the phone if someone is calling about Shelvin come deadline day.

I can't imagine someone would be willing to give up a whole lot for Mack though. Maybe at most a couple of 2nds? I think we should always keep our options open with every player though to be honest. It's always nice to get a call from another GM that has interest in one of our players so we can gauge their value.

I would only move Sheldon for talent...if its the off season, picks are fine but during the season we need a solid third point guard. Thabo and Bazemore did fine last night in spurts but we had to play Teague alot of minutes to keep us in the game.

Re: Kent Bazemore
For some idea, I think IF a deal went down with Shelvin, it'd be along the lines Mack + (Payne / 1st / other value) + (piece we're upgrading) for upgrade. Obviously, the new piece would have to fit our club in every way - vet, high b-ball IQ, gym rat, long - or no deal.
Just think that the difference between Bazemore and Mack as 3rd PG (not to mention the extra PT with having 2 roles in the deep rotation) wouldn't move the needle near as much as getting the upgrade in the short rotation.

I mad mention of Baz after the Toronto game....

I never dogged Baz early in the season like some other fans here, because i knew he was probably going through some learning curves. I don't think Budz's system is easy to understand, but i think once you get it, it starts to become second nature.
Baz is finally learing the system, and that is why i think we are seeing more minutes from him.

Atlanta is just going thru the motions and bricking 3s.

Re: Kent Bazemore
Golden State attempted to groom him as a back-up PG to open up more minutes because they felt that his defense was just too good but their wing rotation was loaded. I don't think it worked out too well. He can fill in in a pinch as an emergency point but if Bud is going to be playing the "maintenance" game with even a young fella like Dennis then I'd feel much more confident knowing that Mack is the 3rd PG unless some ring chasing vet (imagine that?) is signed as a secondary move after a trade.
