Re: What would you trade for the #1 pick
Last year, with us having a losing record and Andrew Wiggins as the prize...anything.
Hell, EVERYTHING.
This year...meh. We don't have lots of tangible long-term assets or young prospects.
So either Teague or Dennis plus the accumulated draft picks we have (Brooklyn this summer and Minnesota's protected pick between now and 2021).
Stanley Johnson could be the next Kawhi. Porzingis has been compared favorably to Dirk. Towns from UK could be special, also.

Depends what the Nets pick ends up being.

If I was a GM of a rebuilding team, I can't think of anyone who would be untouchable if the #1 pick was on the table.
If I was a GM for a championship contender, then I wouldn't be able to justify the cost.

Re: What would you trade for the #1 pick
It's tough to say now that we are contenders. We can't trade anyone on the roster that starts because that would kill our title hopes. So Teague, Korver, Carroll (if resigned), Millsap (if resigned), and Horford should be off the table. I could see teague being debated and giving the keys to Dennis but imo he isn't ready yet. I think he's two years away MAYBE one year from comfortabley being put in that position which is when Teagues contract expires.
I really don't want to give up Schröder but if Dennis + #8,#9, or #10 is on the table for #1 then I would REALLY have to think long and hard about it. I'd probably pull the trigger on it. I just couldn't turn down Okafor/KAT.

Re: What would you trade for the #1 pick
Sorry, been surfing on my phone and thought this one was in the T&T board...
From poking around other boards here, I think I am one of the highest on Okafor around the entire site. Honestly believe that his realistic upside is a top 5 Offensive Player (not just C, but any position) in the NBA before the end of his rookie contract. How his D develops will determine if he's just a another "score 25, give up 20" guy or someone who could center a championship club, and I'm actually bullish on his D too. For all the dings he gets there, he still has better athletic attributes than a post-LAC Elton Brand who carved out a role as a defensive specialist who can hit a midrange shot. So for the one landing the #1 pick, then you're getting at least that. When I say that "If I was a GM of a rebuilding club [then anyone would be on the table]", then I legitimately mean kids that are looking to have star potential - like an Andrew Wiggins - should be on the table. Whether that would be the centerpiece of the package or the team dealing up should receive more is an open ?, but even if you believe the team dealing up gets more, it shouldn't be substantially more regardless of who they have in the package.
The problem for us is that we have a window that is open right now. Why play for a championship in 4-5 years when we could play for one now? Even if we torch all our assets to land the #1 pick (say, BRK pick that is currently #9, Schröder, MIN's pick with protections starting in '17/'18, and our pick with lighter protections starting in '17) so that we don't touch our current roster too much, it still divides the direction of the team - are we playing for now or developing a future stud to lead us to the promised land down the road? Maybe there has been a coaching staff that has been able to successfully tread these waters but it just seems too likely to end up in a divided locker room. If the basketball gods smile down on us and we landed a top 3 pick, then we have to traverse these waters anyway, but I definitely wouldn't be looking to jump in feet first either.
