I won't be able to create every game thread this season, not that I did last year, but let's make it a group effort. No need for it to be flashy unless you're creative enough to do so.
Let's hope for a good season, a successful one, and let's hope we continue to evolve as a team.
GO HAWKS!!

Where's PMOTT3? I don't mind since traffic here is a little slow if there's not one made by dinner time, if I get a chance. I'm not too chatty.

Not a good defensive 1st so far.

Baze still trying to do way too much on offense.
The bench unit needs more minutes, they were on fire.
This halftime show is awful.

We're not really getting any easy inside cuts that DeMarre used to generate, and the ball is sticking on one side of the floor. We're trying to do too much off the dribble or pointless pump fakes that aren't generating any respect since we're not hitting.
Lamar Patterson needs more minutes, and Dennis should close out the game.

Al has no rebounds right now, and provided no rim protection either.
I think we've likely lost at this point so I'm only gonna be looking for pros going forward

We gave up 23 offensive rebounds. That's atrocious.
And where the heck was THJ?

Bud doesn't feel THJ is ready

Wait...we traded away our first rounder (highest pick we'll likely have for a while) to acquire a vet who can contribute immediately. Then make him inactive at the start of the season because he isn't ready?!?
That's really bad, right?

a VET? Hes like in his 3rd season, hardly a VET unless you mean compared to who would have been our 1st round pick. So , devils advocate, you think our 1st round pick suits up last night (whoever we would have chosen?)
This is WAR not a BATTLE. I wouldnt read too much into it.
THJ doesnt help on the glass, that is a problem that has plagued us for YEARS. Splitter/Horford/Millsap all gotta box out, they let DET FEAST on the interior which is what DET is great at.
Offense looked terrible as well, lots of standing around, lots of quirky lineups. Did anyone tell BUd this isnt preseason anymore? He went 10 deep in the first quarter lololol

Considering our rookie 2nd round pick suited up and played a noteworthy amount, including the first half...yes. I'd hope a 1st round rookie would at least be active.
Our wing rotation includes players like Kent Bazemore, Justin Holliday and a still limited Thabo Sefolosha. Not exactly a group of world beaters. (The fact THJ and J. Holliday didn't playa single minute...is noteworthy.)

yeah, that's exactly what I was getting at. I was under the impression we traded for THJ and avoided drafting a young unproven player because we wanted a guy with actual NBA experience.
Coach Bud wrote:"Now with Tim Hardaway Jr., we've added someone who's proven he can play in our league and is going to make us better."
HereWes Wilcox wrote:Tim's a player we have followed for quite a while and we are excited about what he brings to us...Tim's proven he can do that. Tim's proven he is an NBA player.
HereHe clearly is still learning the nuances of the system...but an inactive for his first game...at home...against his dad's team...is very surprising.

Im not saying its not surprising, but I also think the starting SF belongs to Baze for now, and that they are going to rotate combos of Korver/Thabo through that position (and rotate teague/DS on the wings).
I mean hes about the same size as Baze, so Im not sure he would have played.
I do not think , given CMB history with Rookies, that a rookie plays ahead of those guys. Patterson has a year of playing time under his belt in the D league and overseas no?
Suprising, yes, cause for alarm, no

And THJ has 2 years of NBA experience...
But I hear you. No cause for alarms.
Just a single game.
I'm sure Bud will unleash him in Game 2 against his former team.

On an unrelated note...I REALLY like KCP.
I've coveted him since he came into the league. I believe he is the next great 3 & D player. Somewhere between Danny Green and Kawhi.
