We ready for a 2nd round re-match?

Hawks Projected Starting lineup:
PG: Jeff Teague
SG: Kyle Korver
SF: Kent Bazemore
PF: Paul Millsap
C: Al Horford

It's the second game of a back to back, but we we will indeed see the sheriff, quick-trigger Korver, patrolling the three point line. Thabo Sefolosha will play after missing the game last night.

What happened last time these teams met:

The Wizards will be looking for revenge but THEY ARE COMING INTO OUR HOUSE!!!!

Changes from that second round series:
The Hawks are without Demarre Carroll this time around, but have added Tiago Splitter. He's out for rest, however. We do have Thabo Sefolosha this time.

The Wizards have lost Paul Pierce, but have added Kelly Oubre Jr. who was initially drafted by the Hawks.

GO HAWKS!

Dennis diving hard to get the ball away from Dudley. LOVE the hustle.

He's definitely a very cocky kid, but love that he's not 'too good' to put in dirty work.

7 wins in a row. Shutting up all the people that labeled last season a fluke so far. Great game by Bazemore.

Great win. Takeaways are:
-Kent Bazemore is trying to get paid like Carroll. He's led us in scoring 3 times already.
-Thabo D looks great. Man we could a used him in the playoffs last year.
-Justin Holiday just might pan put even if THJ doesn't.

Observations:
Atmosphere was unbelievable for this one.

Kent Bazemore and Justin Holiday are proving that any average 3&D player with energy can be plugged into Bud's system, and he'll thrive. We made the right choice not overpaying Carroll $15 mil a year.

Most of all, I am so impressed with this team. They have come out of the gate looking hungrier than they were last season. The 4th game in 5 nights, and they out-hustled the Wizards in every facet of the game. The energy they exhibited was outstanding.

It's early but it's still nice having taken it to those that many (even some on here) picked all summer to replace the Hawks at the top of the South East division.

Good sweeping the 4 games in 5 nights set, the schedule eases up some over the next week with more spaced out games at home but if the team can get through a November where they'd play nearly a quarter of their total games for the entire season at this pace then it could set up the makings of another potential 60 win season.

Another win in I believe it 's 6 in a row.
Bazemore is playing like a superstar and nobody remembers Carroll now. He is defending, running, shooting, scoring, dunking and blocking shots. Unbelievable.
Teague is playing great and team chemistry is off the roofs.

I just would like BDH to find more minutes for Tiago, more resting minutes for Millsap and Horford and, at the same time, get some more practice time for the triple post system with Millsap at the three spot.

Everything seems great right now. Bazemore, Holiday, Schröeder...

Wizards (3-2) @ Hawks (6-1) 7:30 Eastern Time

Post#13 » by Jamaaliver » Sun Nov 8, 2015 5:39 pm

Great finale for a wonderful stretch of basketball. 5 wins in 7 days which has vaunted us to the top of the standings.

We do need to pace ourselves as there is lot of ball left to play. Don't want to be peaking in November/ December.

But two wins over a couple of likely playoff teams is impressive. Winning the games we're 'supposed to win' is impressive.

Bazemore's occasional brilliance is impressive. Our team defense is impressive.

Next up...how will we fare against the 5 elite teams in the league?

LOL @ SIG

Its 7 games, but 7-1 is pretty good considering we are not playing the full team. I also think what Bud is doing, with the depth that we have, is going to keep us fresh down the stretch. With so many combo guards and forwards he can rest Kyle/Thabo and with splitter AH doesnt have to play as much. Everyone seems to contribute , there is no PERO on this team :P

Defense looks great.

Bazemore keep this up , are we paying him 15 million? (SOmETHING TO THINK ABOUT)

DS and Teague have been great, I really think they may be the best PG/Backup in the east (unless im missing someone)

Agreed...We have the best starter/backup combo in the league at both Center and PG. I'd still like a talent upgrade on the wing (our own version of Kawhi), but it's clear we have the horses to run wild in the regular season. (Remains to be seen how things play out in the playoffs.)

I've had absolutely no luck predicting what direction Wes or Bud (or Ferry) goes in Free Agency. But I'd think the success we are seeing early from K bazemore and that we saw late from Demarre indicates we can take any unselfish, blue-collar swing man and turn him into a starting caliber wing.

I don't think we over pay for BLAZE. But, based on his size and age, I could definitely see us investing in him as our starting SG for a few seasons. Our own version of Danny Green.

Next man up is what it's looked like so far. Come next season we might be feeling similar anxiety over losing Holiday or Patterson if Bazemore prices himself out of Bud's plans.

Thats what I was thinking as well. The SF position looks to be a COME SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT then get paid type position. Which Im ok with.

IIRC Holiday and THJ are both signed for the next 2 years correct ? (According to BBRef.com).

Workman, blue-collar SFs in this league should be crawling over each other for the chance to come here and be the next Demarre.

That definitely works in out favor. (Though, I truly don't understand why we seem unwilling to attempt and develop a young stud at SF to be a long-term solution. Gary Harris, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson or Justin Anderson anyone?)

THJ has a team option we can exercise next Fall, just like Dennis.

Holiday’s deal is for two years, and is fully guaranteed, per C-Viv.

BTW, this was a FANTASTIC thread. it's clear you put some serious work into it.

It did not go unnoticed.
