...in the season opener against the Pistons, Atlanta lost 106-94.

Detroit held a 59-40 rebounding advantage and limited the Hawks 29.6 percent shooting from 3-point range. Improving in those areas will be difficult for Atlanta seeing as the Pistons are third in rebounding at 47.6 per game and the Hawks are last in the league in rebounding differential at minus-5.0 per contest. Detroit also holds opponents to an average of 7.0 made 3-pointers per game for the league's fourth-best mark.

After averaging 86.7 points on 40.5 percent shooting during a three-game losing streak, Atlanta (18-12) is at 111.3 points per game and 51.4 percent shooting in its last four...

Detroit has won three straight road games after dropping eight of its previous nine outside of Michigan but has been sluggish offensively in the second half of road back-to-backs

Dennis Schroder looks to help the Hawks to a fifth straight victory Wednesday night...

Schroder has spurred Atlanta's winning streak, shooting 55.5 percent and draining 7 of 13 3-pointers. Among the players that have averaged at least 20 minutes since last Wednesday, only Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry have a higher offensive efficiency rating than Schroder's 126.9 points per 100 possessions. His season rating is at 105.5.

Three times in the last four games Schroder has scored at least 17 - the same number of times he reached that mark in his first 26 contests.

Our Hawks are favored to win by 6 points.
Detroit is a good team and they concern me.

They are #1 in offensive rebounds and we are #30. They outrebounded us 59-40 in the first meeting this season and had 23 offensive boards. Going to be a huge challenge keeping Drummond off the glass.

We're likely going to crush you on the glass, but this Pistons team still has flaws that can be exploited. We don't pass well at all outside of the PG position, and the bench is usually very bad (but great yesterday).

I vividly recall Schroder tearing up our bench on opening night. If you shoot at your average rate, we're likely toast on a road-road BTB. Drummond needs to play huge, like 20-20 huge, for us to win this one.

Hacking dre in the 1st quarter in a December game lol. Maybe if you're center wasn't a power foward he'd be able to actually grab a board and box out. Winning this game will be enjoyable

Same. I love that Silver and the decision makers decided to not outlaw hacking. These are professional basketball players, getting payed to play the game. Free throws are a part of that.

So is playing defense. Maybe teams should learn how to do that instead of hacking.

Why? If a professional basketball player doesn't have the ability to shoot free throws, a fundamental part of the game, why shouldn't teams punish him for it. If Drummond could hit his free throws then we wouldn't have hacked him tonight, it's all strategy, and it threw the Pistons out of their rhythm on offense, which was an added bonus.

Great win from a quality team. Pistons are young but have a handful of talented players. Even though it was only a 7 point victory, the Hawks pretty much dominated the whole game and were in control for all four quarters.

Shooting a basketball uncontested from 15 feet should not be a big deal. If you don't have the talent to shoot free throws then something is wrong with you athletically and skill wise. Maybe something is wrong with you and you are just born with a disfunction and if that is the case then this is sports and you should be penalized for something like that.

Dr J., Kawhi Leonard, and Noah Vonleh all have huge hands but still can shoot 85% from free throw line. So that big hand excuse is just pure bullshtt.

I have said this or the last two years so this is the third year I'm saying this. If Drummond can shoot 70% from free throw, he would be a top 5 player for me, on the same level as Anthony Davis. For me the only difference between Drummond and Anthony Davis is that Davis can shoot 75% from the free throw line, but because of free throw shooting, Drummond is just a 3rd tier player on the same level as DeAndre Jordan.
