#30 for Faried (salary dump) and #14. Package 19 and 14 to move into the top 10. Come out of the draft with Bamba and Trae Young.

I think the Nuggets have a smidge more leverage than most give them credit for. There's already reporting from Michael Scotto that Brooklyn is dangling 29+Dinwiddie and offering to take a large expiring salary back to get into the mid-first. According to Michael Cunningham on the LO Hawks pod, Atlanta also wants an expiring deal. There aren't a ton of those out there for those teams who are also willing to move their picks.

I think Atlanta would probably have to part with 19 to get it done, or add a player to 30 who's paid minimally but helps. Depending on who's there at 14 (the variable that's unknown) I think they would, too. It'll come down to who's on the board, who likely will be on the board at 19, and if there's a guy you have to move up to get. Faried becomes a positive trade chip at the deadline too. It's not like they'd be taking back Ian Mahimni.

30 alone won't get it done if the Nuggets can get 29 and a good backup PG for next year, which fits a need.

Going to be interesting!

More power to you if yall get that deal, but taking on Faried's big expiring contract in exchange for moving up 5 spots doesn't seem like a savvy move by the Hawks unless, like you suggested, there's someone who falls to 14 that we're just in love with, who probably won't be there at 14. Maybe if Schlenk really likes someone like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or if someone like Wendell Carter unexpectedly falls, but those are some big ifs. I'm ready to just stand pat if 19 is a requirement.

Thoughts?

it's like Parsons for Bazemore, then MEM 2018 4th for ATL 2019 unprotected + Prince + ATL 2018 30th
No thanks, if our 2019 pick ends being selected in the lottery, ATL will look like they made a trade with Danny Ainge ;-)

But I like the idea to get 3 top10 picks, it could be fun

Agreed. 19 is too much for just Faried & 14. But, this will be the biggest night of our entire rebuild so why not start it with a bang! If TS is looking to rebuild via draft, this is the offseason to make bold moves. Here’s a scenario for 2 trade ideas that I think might be an overpay, but would be strong moves toward our rebuild:

MEM Trade: Prince, Baze, 30, 2019 unprotected 1st for Parsons, 4
- Mem fills holes in their roster for win now, unloads Parsons contract, and gets 2 young valuable assets (Prince & top 5 pick in 2019). 30 sweetens the deal.

DEN ORL Trade: Den gets 19 | ORL gets Shroeder, 14, Den future 1st (top 20 protected) | Atl gets Faried, Biyombo, 6
- Den gets best pick offered to unload cap.
- Orl gets their shooting PG to win now while unloading cap. Gets 14 and future 1st to sweeten the deal.

Why for ATL: Hawks start their rebuild strong with 3 top 10 picks. Pierce gets to teach fresh players his system. No more cap space, but Faried is an expiring and Parsons, Biyombo & Plumlee will get off books by 2020 offseason.

Roster:
3 / Taylor
4 / 34 / Dorsey
Parsons / Bembry
Collins / Faried / Muscala
6 / Biyombo / Plumlee

Thoughts?

I'm not mad at this. I mean I love Prince but three Top 10ers is hard to pass on if it's possible. Draft Luka, Bagley, and/or Bamba at 3 and 4, and Trae at 6.

No way Denver pays TWO 1st to rid of a 1-yr expiring Faried, get real, even getting 19 back seems a high price. Kroenke recently spoke out that they're considering biting the bullet and paying the luxury, setting them up for 2019 free agency. We're not taking a bad deal like this.

Ok but don’t come crying to us when you can’t resign Jamal Murray in a couple years.

Don't worry yourself, we'll be fine. We have Faried's $13M, Chandler's $12.5M, Arthurs $7.5 and to top it off another $30M from Millsap before Murray will need to be paid....more than enough for Murray.

A history of teams moving in to the top 5 of the NBA Draft and what it might cost the Bulls

The Hawks are a potential trade option. They reportedly are looking to move down and still be able to draft Trae Young, who could supplant a disgruntled Dennis Schroder at the point. Again, a package of the Nos. 7 and 22 picks plus Portis could be enough to get the deal done; Atlanta drafted forward John Collins a year ago but he doesn’t offer much as a pick-and-pop power forward. Portis would give them a solid complement. Then again, Atlanta couldn’t be sure Young would be available at 7, especially considering Orlando is picking No. 6 and has a serious need at the point.

Who would the Bulls be targeting at No. 3 or No. 4? Rumors are everywhere so it’s difficult to pinpoint. Michael Porter Jr. could now go as high as No. 2 to the Sacramento. That would mean international sensation Luka Doncic falls. Marvin Bagley’s name has been quiet for a while, while Jaren Jackson Jr. is having “monster workouts” that have him flying up draft boards. We won’t speculate.

The Bulls love Portis, but he’ll need a significant contract extension in 13 months

ATL won't trad down at 7
Maybe at 6 with ORL if they think they would not pick Young at 3, but if ORL stays at 6, they won't trade from 3 to 7.

Would this be ok?

Klay Thompson, Looney, #28 for #3, Baz, Plum

GSW get to draft Doncic on a long term rookie contract and pair him up with Curry and Durant. Warriors no longer have to worry about a max deal for Klay

ATL can’t get Luka but get the next best thing in an established star in Klay and cap space to do a quick build around Klay

Looney is a free agent after this season I believe.

We would be trading for 1 year of Klay before he bolts. Doesn't seem like a wise move. You draft Doncic (if he is there at 3) and continue a build. There is no way Atlanta could become a title contender in one offseason.

No. Who from this FA class gets us to championship contention in the 1 year we have Klay.
Chances are he leaves in FAcy. The risk is too high.

Gortat is expiring that's why the 'move down'. If its Mahinmi who has 2 years left it should be #15, they get a future 2nd.

Wiz are really in a bind. The paid the tax last year, so paying in it consecutive years is a penalty so they more so than Denver needs to cut salary.

I think it truly depends on what salary we are taking back if it is 19. Moving up 4 spots is pretty big.
