Who was saying he could start? I remember me saying splitter can't stay healthy .
Sucks, so who is backup now? Muscala?

Now, does this injury push Bud to do something drastic or minor?
With the cap increasing substantially next year, resigning Al takes that flex away.
NBCSports still saying Miami and Atlanta still interested in Dwight:

I have been really disappointed with Tiago since joining the Hawks, but the silver lining with his surgery is that maybe his poor play comes from his hidden injury all year?
Hopefully he gets better and by next year the Spurs Tiago Splitter, who was playing elite defense beside Tim Duncan and making smart plays on offense.

At this point, I'm thinking playing alongside Duncan just made Splitter look better than he actually is. We will never see the SAS Splitter since we have no Duncan.

Oh i didnt mean it like that

Lord knows ive been wrong so many times hahahaha I just meant Splitter has been hindered by injuries for A LONG time now. He just cant stay healthy.
I dont think this pushes a trade if anything it prob HURTS a trade possibility. You cant let Horford go you have NO DEPTH at C now. Your backups are Muscala/Tavares.
Teague I think is still in play but more and more I dont think that is happening. Asking prices are too high, and I think they will go into the offseason looking to retool. Trade deadline is just too risky unless you are blown away by an offer. If teague for Oladipo existed I would be pissed they didnt take that deal.
Splitter was a good pickup, even with this injury killing his season. Hes the best big you could have gotten for that price. But now, the real question to me is:
Splitter
Thabo
Korver
Horford
Millsap
That is a LOT of age right there. with Slpitter going down, if any of those other guys go, you are in REAL trouble.

Yeah i never bought into the SPLITTER SOLVES ALL OUR PROBLEMS crowd. He played next to a HOF PF. He was very good, but we have no 7 foot rim protector that can shoot 15 foot jumpers.

More bad news...
Tiago Splitter’s season-ending surgery may force him to miss at least the beginning of next season.
Splitter said the recovery will be “eight months, at least.” An eight-month recovery would mean Splitter would not be able to return until near the end of October, the start of the NBA season. It will also force him to miss the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in his native Brazil.
Starting center Al Horford said. “That is a big blow for us. Defensively, he gave us so much. Just his feel and his ability."
Splitter said he plans to remain around the team and help in any way he can off the court – including helping young centers Mike Muscala and Edy Tavares. Splitter said Budenholzer joked before Wednesday’s practice that the team has another assistant coach.
“We lost his body but it’s his mind and his championship pedigree that is still on this team,” Millsap said.
HereStinks to miss the Olympics; playing for the host country seems like a tremendous honor.
At least he is still engaged with the team moving forward.

Four days after season-ending surgery on his right hip, Tiago Splitter posted on social media that he is “feeling very well.”
On Monday, Splitter posted the following message on Instagram: What’s up! 4 days after my surgery, I’m feeling very well and all the phisiotherapy (sic) is helping me a lot. I would like to thank everyone who support me, soon I will be on the court playing with Hawks and for the Brazilian National Team.
Prior to the surgery, Splitter said the recovery time would be at least eight months. He will miss the 2016 Rio Olympics and likely the start of the next NBA season.
HereCall me a fool, but I still have him penciled in as the starter at Center this Fall, flanked by AL at PF.

Yep...and I'm hopeful Bud will re-assess his scheme and, in particular, the usage of his Centers. Perhaps making Tiago more of a focal point to get more production out of the position.
Coming up with ways to increase the scoring/assists/rebounding of the Centers on the roster has to be one of the major goals of the coaching staff this summer.
