Shelvin Mack to the Jazz for 2nd Rd Pick

The Hawks have traded reserve point guard Shelvin Mack to the Jazz, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The Hawks acquired a second-round pick in the deal.
Mack has played sparingly this season. He has appeared in just 24 games and averaged 3.9 points and 1.6 assists in 7.5 minutes per game.
The move opens up a roster spot for the Hawks.

Solid, cerebral backup caliber player. Solid defender. Doesn't do dumb things with the ball (always a great trait in a backup).
Good size. Adequate jumper. Not much scoring ability, unable to beat his man one on one, can't finish at the rim.
Not a game changer, but won't cost you the game, either. His size allows him to play off-guard on occasion.
Modest talent with no major flaws.

Mack is ok, when he did get minutes he'd piss me off at the end of quarters not getting a shot off at times.

Maybe a good draft pick for down the line if Denver continues to flounder.
I liked Mack, and IMO would be a good backup PG when he gets the minutes. Teague is simply on a contract too good to just give away for another young player.
Now, for the open roster slot, I like Varajeo or David Lee if that happens. We need depth inside.

We basically traded Shelvin Mack for Kirk Hinrich. Not the worst move.
It finally means we have a steady vet to mentor Dennis, sub in during close playoff games, and provide a steady hand when DS and JT0 both play like hot garbage.
Signing Mack two summers ago was a poor decision. Too much youth and inexperience at one position. This rectifies that...somewhat.
And KH has the size/skillset to play SG also.
Disappointing overall day, but I do like this one just a bit.
I think this seals it that one of DS or JT0 is gone in the off-season.

Shelvin Mack impressive in Jazz debutMack certainly seized [the] opportunity in Sunday’s game. The 6-foot-3 guard made an immediate impact after surprisingly getting the call to enter in the first quarter.
The Jazz trailed 11-2 when he checked in for starting point guard Raul Neto at the 6:56 mark.They led 21-13 — having gone on a 17-0 run — five and a half minutes later.
Mack finished with season-highs in minutes played (24), points (16) and assists (six). He also had three rebounds, a blocked shot and held his own against Damian Lillard...It was one of the best performances by a Jazz point guard in 55 games this season.
HereLooks like this is a good move for Shelvin moving forward. Good for him.

Game 2 he started, played 32 minutes scored 17 points, but had 6 turnovers, he wasn't in sync with the Jazz players yet.
