Playoffs Round 1: Atlanta vs Boston

Post#1 » by Hawk Eye » Thu Apr 14, 2016 4:43 am

I'm not going to beat around the bush here, I know 100% that every single one of us are pissed with the way our beloved Hawks finished the season. But lets give these guys some credit. The NBA season is a constant grind and these guys worked their tails off to get to this point. It's our job to cheer our team on now! Let's see if our team is ready to kick this thing into high gear.

The Hawks have a tough task at hand for their first round matchup against the Celtics

I fully expect for Coach Bud to bring out the big guns for this matchup

The war has started gentleman and this our first battle. Let's take care of business! Time to put up a good fight! GO HAWKS!!!

Who knows, maybe Al Jefferson will go off in the playoffs?

The Hawks stink and Cleveland will easily dispose of them again if they get to the 2nd round. It's not even debatable.

Going to be a fun one, not the matchup we wanted but here it goes. Shame the two teams can't meld into one to try to beat Cleveland.

I don't think anyone in the 4-6 range is happy with how their teams ended the season! Maybe Miami, but even they ended it with a loss and only snuck into 3rd place by chance.

y'all have the advantage in this matchup for sure, especially playing at home. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Torn because of the obvious Homerism I feel for my Cs. But being in Atlanta for the last 13 years.............

I will try to be neutral as much as possible, but I dont think this is an easy series for Atlanta. Boston is scary. They can give Atlanta fits especially if they get good play from their Bigs.

I still give the Hawks the edge, but I think this is a 6-7 game series IMO. I dont see it ending in 4 or 5 games that easily for either team.

I hate that the winner has to see CLE in the second round because CLE may get the easiest path to the ECF ive ever seen (outside of the Hawks from last year). I would have LOVED to see Boston face CLE in round 1.

If we get off to a 2-0 series lead then I'll great about our prospects of possibly winning in 5. I'm sure that we'll split with them in Boston.

If they steal a game in Atlanta off the bat, then I can see it going 6 or 7.

I'll go with the Hawks in 6.

I must admit this series has me rather nervous.
It's probably natural for me to feel that way even if we had been the number one seed.

I would definitely be down for that. Standing alone neither one of us has any chance in the 2nd round against Cleveland but with Stevens and Bud on the sidelines together joining forces I like our odds much more :P

It's weird, everyone else seems a lot more optimistic about our chances than our fanbase  Milsap and Horford must be foaming at the mouth for this series.

Apparently we are experimenting with a volt out for game 1. That should be interesting.

Glad they aren't doing the white out, that looks kinda like a colt gathering. I'm surprised you guys don't have this as a real jersey, might be a bit too much green but, I kinda like it.

Was very meh with the unis at first but, they grew on me. I love em, especially the whites.

Yea I've seen those before and wouldn't be suprised if we reveal them as alternate jerseys somewhere down the road. I'm actually just the opposite and still hate our unis. The volt is just gross to me. I don't think they ever should have gone away from the red, blue, and white color scheme. Would have loved to see them add a baby blue color to their jerseys as well.

Historical matchups between our franchises in the post-season:

There is some history between the Hawks and Celtics.

The Hawks have faced the Celtics in seven playoff series since moving to Atlanta. They are 0-7. Count the four series when the Hawks played in St. Louis and the record is 1-10. But these teams are a long way from a Dominique Wilkins versus Larry Bird duel or a Zaza Pachulia forehead-to-forehead battle with Kevin Garnett.

Fun quote from Brad Stevens before last week's Hawks-Celtics game:

Brad Stevens wrote:I’ve stolen more from Budenholzer than a lot of people. I love the way he runs his stuff. I love the way he runs his sets at the end of games.
