Do we have anything of value that would interest Indiana?
With reports coming out today about the Lakers intending on pursuing George, I thought about our possible off-season three days ago, and George was my #1 target.

Here is what is suggesting that the Lakers will offer:

Also hearing that the Lakers want to make a BIG run at Paul George with their top-3 pick plus other stuff. (Not that they'd get him...)

It would take much more for Indiana to trade George. We have proven talent that would possibly interest them, right? (Maybe not!)

I doubt we have anything close to what Indy wants. Their fans don't even think Russell, top 2 pick, and Randle would be enough.

I can think about a scenario when they would agree to trade George for getting Teague, Millsap and Bazemore. Both can provide offense which is something they are lacking of. Horford has lost a lot of his value in this playoffs run IMO.

Well Baze is a free agent, and I don't think Teague and Sap make Indy better without having PG13

Well I think Indiana are a limited team while just leaning on PG13's offense (I'd say it is also up to their coach, Vogel). ATL in the other hand would be the better team in a series because Teague, Millsap and Baze providing daily production in a more varied way. Something that IND have a problem with, if PG13 facing a bad shooting night. Should it be the perfect trade for IND? I'm not sure at all, but I can see some scenarios when they would try a different direction if they would get 3-4 good players for PG13. Anyway if I'm IND I wouldn't trade him for anyone not named Durant, LeBron or Curry.

Indy is indeed a very limited team, but the only way I see them trading for Teague and Sap is if they think Turner will take a leap next year and they can go grab a good-great wing in free agency.

Bird has demonstrated in the past that he wants to compete at all costs. Between Milwaukee and Indiana they are very content with being able to pursue an 8th seed so a veteran laden package could interest them more than a collection of unproven youngsters and picks. That being said, both the Hawks and Pacers are just at the wrong juncture at the wrong time. Maybe two years ago if they were interested in moving George Teague and Horford would have piqued their interest slightly but George is a bonafide two way star, you exhaust all possibilities of building a team around him rather than soliciting packages. He'll likely only be on the market once he's nearing free agency and if they fear losing him.

Would you rather trade for Paul George and give up assets like Millsap and Teague and picks, or just make a hard push and throw a Paul George size contract at Harrison Barnes and not lose Millsap or Teague?

Hawks have nothing the Pacers would want.

Every piece we can offer is either a FA or expiring already. Millsap is under contract for 1 year, so is Teague. Horford and Baze are FA. We have NOTHING of value

Basically this. Our young talent that can easily be signed long term (RFA) consists of Dennis Schröder and Tim Hardaway. Maybe someone might be intrigued with Edy's size?

The Hawks essentially are the equivalent to what the Braves were a few years ago: a team with enough talent to reach the playoffs, but not enough to win in the post season, with one of the worst farm system's in the sport.

This team HAD its shot last year. The EC was GIFTED to them , CLE was hobbled and we got swept. Period. This offseason we reupped with the same aging core and got rid of one of the other pieces in DMC (financially). Our FA acquisitions? did we sign ANYONE?

People need to admit that this team isnt good enough to win and time is running out on the front court players age wise. People need to admit that DRASTIC moves sometimes have to be made and yes the team could take a step backwards but ill be better long term.

I can't imagine a package we could cobble together to even get in the conversation for Paul George. (This is where all those wasted draft picks come back to bite us.)

But I can't help but think that Jeff Teague and Paul Millsap would pair nicely with Paul George. And I think Larry Bird, who seems keen on competing with PG13 at all costs, might overpay for a pair of All Star upgrades to get his team back to elite status in the Conference.

Hill is also expiring so what do we get for that. At the trade deadline rumors were Bird was interested but most thought Pacers would have to include a pick or young player with Hill for Teague.
So it's basically Millsap for Turner and pick #20?

Ahhhh....Did not realize G Hill was expiring (though I think we easily re-sign him if he comes here).

But the ultimate goal remains the same. Trading those guys for young players AND contributing vets is of paramount importance. We should attempt to stay competitive while still acquiring assets for the future.

Millsap and Teague for Valanciunas and Demarre isn't a terrible option.

Millsap, Teague and Korver for Oladipo and Vucevic is probably ideal. (Young players, in their prime, highly regarded in the league.)

Millsap + Teague + Korver + Thabo + the Minny Pick for K Middleton, their top 10 draft pick (and the contract of Greg Monroe )


Just a few scenarios to get younger...while remaining competitive.
