Strategically it might not be the worst idea to hold fast, make some modest roster changes to load up on assets (draft picks/moveable contracts) and put ourselves in position to pilfer a couple of solid 2nd tier Free Agents next summer instead. You know, the Danny ferry approach.

The list of players who can be unrestricted free agents in 2017 includes Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka, Paul Millsap, Gordon Hayward, Greg Monroe, Derrick Rose, Rudy Gay, Andrew Bogut, Jrue Holiday, Danilo Gallinari, Andre Iguodala, J.J. Redick, Taj Gibson and George Hill among many others.

Not to mention, the restricted free agents aren’t too shabby either. Barring extensions, that group could include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Rudy Gobert, C.J. McCollum, Nerlens Noel, Dennis Schroder, Victor Oladipo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Nikola Mirotic, Otto Porter, Steven Adams, Michael Carter-Williams, Alex Len and Kelly Olynyk among others.

We're at a stronger point to compete in Free Agency now that players know what type of coach we have and how effective our system can be. (Particularly for swing players.) If we can come out of this summer with another solid young building block (D Favors, G Hayward, Oladipo), we could be very attractive in a loaded Free Agent summer...much more than we are today.

Everything else is going down in Atlanta in 17, may as well be the Hawks too...

I dont see many of those guys jumping to Atlanta TBH. Maybe a Hayward, Ibaka perhaps. No game changers though. youll also be losing Millsap at that point. Al would be another year older.

If we're waiting til'17, then just blow it up. See what our vets can bring back, and prepare for '17. By then we will know if Dennis is worth keeping around, and if he is a bright spot for us, that gives us at least one young guy with our coaches to attract a free agent or 2.
