Dwight Howard has reached agreement on a three-year, $70.5 million with the Atlanta Hawks, league sources tell The Vertical.

I've made fun of Dwight in recent years, but I'd be lying if I said this didn't make me happy. Love that it's a short deal.

Recently relocated to Atl in 2007, this is a good business move for both parties.

Definitely interesting. Is this a play TO AL or to REPLACE AL?

3 years 70 million is NOT for Howard to come off the bench

Now this coming out, they must not be interested in Horford

Atlanta made the determination that the Millsap-Horford pairing, for all its virtues, wasn't a front line that could get to the next level

I'm not the biggest Dwight fan but this is a huge win for us. With the contracts we've seen so far i think it was very likely Howard could have gotten more money than 23.5M per year.

Anyone got a salary cap update for us?

I LOVE this, much better contract than what I thought he'd get.

$23.5 mil is extremely reasonable with all the money flying around, and we didn't have to swallow that 4th year. Welcome home Dwight!

I gotta say I'm excited for the first time in a long time. Looks like they made Dwight enough of a priority to get him to the Eastern Conference. He can easily become an all-star, and improve our chances vs Cleveland.
He neutralizes Thompson, and provides a terrific backline for us.

Is it going to cost us Al? It might, but if a team out there wants Al for 5 years, a S&T is in our favor. OKC will have to move folks, Houston will 'want' to move pieces, and Boston may be the place Al ends up.

Keeping Baze is going to be very expensive. We still need to get more shooting for Dwight. I vote Jamal Crawford to pump up our bench on the cheap or an Allen Crabbe, who will be hard to pull away from Portland, but its possible.

I'm glad we're going after a new approach. Let's see what other moves we make!!!

I LOVE d12 at 3 years vs Horford at 5 years.

Looks like Al is gone. Unless he swallows some pride (which he shouldn't) and comes back (if hawks even want him now)

Also, this signing goes against everything Bud has been preaching for years about wanting shooters at all 5 positions on the floor. So it will be interesting to see how he adjusts. I think our next step should be surrounding Dwight with shooters--he was most effective in Orlando when SVG used that 4 out 1 in system surrounding him with guys who can shoot.

I'm so happy. I always wanted this to happen and it did and not on bad terms. Unfortunately this means Horford is on his way out, which is depressing, considering we traded Teague away, we are losing our longtime Hawks.
