Diaw would certainly fit Bud's system perfectly, he could play C/PF and even SF if needed.
At 7M/yr, it's now a good contract in a 94M Salary Cap world.
We can absorb Diaw's contract by cutting Scott, it's also possible to trade him to SAS.
If Scott is a keeper, it would need to cut Muscala/Patterson and send Tavares.

His days of playing SF are long over now.

I'd love to bring in Diaw. But didn't he burn some bridges on his way out of town over a decade ago? Time does mend all wounds though.

Unless the Hawks are planning to make a move to get a starting SF or SG, i think the Hawks' bench is set.
Splitter
Scott
Thabo
Hardaway
Delaney
Hawks should look into getting back Hump and seeing if Ish Smith can fit under the cap.

Ish signed with the Pistons.

Diaw would make a great addition. He knows the system, has a championship pedigree and can back up PF and C.
He could run point when our two inexperienced PGs are struggling.
And he can help guard LeBron in the playoffs alongside THABO, Baze and Prince.

Burned bridges with Woody which is totally fine with me.

I'd love to see him back in ATL. A few years ago he guarded Bosh well in the Finals. A guy like Diaw ia what ATL needs when facing a team like GS/CLE who got stretch bigs.
I'd definitely cut Scott. He is so awful on defense. He got lit up by Love and I believe Jerebko too. A legit forward like Diaw would allow Millsap to get some rest since he already has to score a lot and play D.

Like MaceCase said, it was with Woody and I think that since it happened, Diaw showed more than Woody did.

I did not explain it fully, but in my mind, it was like what Jamaaliver said, mainly about guarding big SF like LeBron.
His defense on this kind of players is invaluable once in playoffs.
Remember that SAS lost 4-3 in 2013 in Finals, then win it in 2014 with a huge impact from Diaw. He had the best plus/minus of the team by far, each time he has on the floor, they were increasing their lead and LeBron was "struggling" (hard to say LeBron is really struggling).
There's not a lot of player who can bring that defense while being able to play on offense like Bud wants, so for 7M, I would would be all in for that move.

No he can't, he isn't that guy anymore. He is a grizzled vet who would help the team, but only on the same level as Elton Brand.

Bazemore, Korver, Thabo, THJ, Bembry, Lamar Patterson.
That's a five man rotation at SG once Taurean Prince gets set at SF. That includes a starter 'in his prime', grizzled veterans, and up-and-coming studs, and young role players struggling for PT.
Plus, Diaw could run Point Forward in all BIG lineup which could cause serious matchup issues with CELTS and PACERS.

Bazemore and Thabo are your SFs.
Korver is your backup SG (should be)
Currently, our starting 2 guard is a rookie, a guy who never played, and THJ.

We need and upgrade to Scott and Moose - Diaw gives us that.
