Sounds like $50k down the drain to me. Hard to see how he would possibly make the roster.

Camp body is my take.
But depending on what happens with Mike Scott if his case is indeed heard in the fall......

Considering you guys just signed Costello, another center, I thought I'd use this opportunity to ask about Muscala. I think he would be a great backup for the Warriors until Damian Jones is ready to contribute. Is the belief that he won't make the team? You have 15 guaranteed deals not including his and Costello's non-guaranteed deals. Who are the odd men out? It looks like Tavares has made significant strides, does he figure to be the 3rd center behind Splitter?

My guess was that Muscala and Patterson were the odd men out after we re-signed Humphries. Patterson has since been cut, and Costello is a long shot to make the team.

With one more spot left to clear (if Costello doesn't make the team), I'd be shocked if Mike Muscala wasn't the one to get kicked to the curb. Tavares has more potential, Mike Scott is just flat out a better player, and Muscala is the only player on the roster whose deal is unguaranteed (other than Costello). Now, I don't know how Scott's court case will go, and I have no idea if Budenholzer is discussing a Splitter trade, but if Scott doesn't get suspended and Splitter doesn't get traded, then Muscala would have to be the odd man out.

Matt Costello is 6'-9" so I assumed his position will be PF. With Mike Scott in limbo with his court case - which is scheduled to be heard this fall, backup PF is in limbo. Depending on the outcome, he may or may not be around. Mike Muscala can play both PF and C but unless he shows a marked improvement during training camp he maybe gone. I don't think The Hawks won't make any decisions until after training camp and hopefully Scott's case would have been resolved by then.
