Would you trade for JYD?

Raptor fan here, just wondering if you guys would like demarre carroll back seeing the struggles of bazemore and korver. I think carrol is a bad fit on the raptors and its unfortunate that a player with a ton of heart like him is doing rly bad for us because it does seem like hes rly trying.

Currently avging 6.6 pts, 3,5 reb, 1 ast, 32% fg and 33% 3pt in 27 min.

He cashed out while he could, good on him but the Hawks have enough in house options at wing to try out in addition to just letting predominantly Bazemore work out his kinks before they look at trading for a DeMarre. Presumably if they are looking at wing player they'd want a clear upgrade over the stock that they currently have, DeMarre's not that.

No we'll pass.
Baze started the season bad but i think he was just pressing because of the new contract.
He finally put a good game together against Houston.

Korver's shooting 46% from the field and 43% from 3, he's looked alright. Don't get where the notion that he's struggling is coming from.

I guess the 2 bad shooting games against the LAL and Wiz., both 1-6. Even with that he is still shooting at an amazing clip for a 35 year old.

I'd always love to have him back, he was such a great fit here and gave it his all every night. Love Demarre though and glad he got paid he deserved it. Do agree he doesn't seem to be a great fit for the raptors but I don't know what we would be able to offer or if a trade would be worth it?

And Korver is night and day from the beginning of last year I would also agree he is not struggling right now.

If I were building a veteran, win-now team to surround D12 in an attempt to dethrone LeBron...Demarre would be the ideal candidate to start with. He's a 3 & D specialist, moves well without the ball and is a steadying force in the locker room.

During his last post season in Atlanta, he produced at an above avg rate due to all the attention the other 4 starters attracted. That could prove useful next May. Starting DeMarre at SF allows us to move Korver to the bench (where he belongs).

Also, a stable of Bazemore, Demarre, Thabo and Taurean is more than enough to throw at Lebron, Jimmy Butler, Paul George or any top wing scorer in the East.

I'd welcome him back with open arms in what is now considered a value contract. But I wouldn't give up much value to do it.

Give us Demarre, Bebe Noguiera and Cory Joseph for Minnesota's lottery protected pick, Tiago Splitter, Mike Scott and Tim Hardaway, Jr.

Lol. This Hawks fan will pass on that trade.
We don't need to take back two players we previously had plus throw in a first round pick as well.

Carroll is 30 and injury prone. Hawks need to develop Prince instead. Younger, similar skillset.

Yeah. I certainly get this sentiment. But if we're shooting to dethrone LeBron THIS season...Carroll is currently a great option at his salary.

Next summer, Korver, Thabo, THJ (and Millsap) are all free agents. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least two of those players walk away for big money and a starting role elsewhere.

Demarre is younger than Thabo, Millsap and Korver and is on a bargain contract for years to come. He's also the same age as Dwight Howard.

The injury concern is a clear issue. But if TOR wants to gift him to us...it'd be hard to say 'no'.

It's not a gift, there is a cost associated with it in terms of what/who we are trading.
I'd rather platoon Korver and Thabo and givePrince spot minutes.

:-?

I proposed a trade including expiring deals and a future pick which could very well likely just end up as 2nd rounders.

If we can dangle an expiring bench player (THJ) and get back two rotation players to aid us in a quest for a title...we'd have to consider it.

Scott and Splitter haven't even played this season. Prince would still be in line to get spot duty at backup SF (& PF) with THJ and Scott out of the picture.

Carroll couldn't even dethrone LeBron this past playoffs and he was playing alongside an All-Star PG/SG and talented C.

Korver - He's probably gone unless he takes a steeper paycut than last time.

Hardaway - He's staying. Him and ATL seem to be on the same page regarding his extension.

Thabo - I think he's gone. Prince needs to develop as the SF of the future.

Millsap - I think he stays only if ATL offers him the max.

I don't see why TOR would want to give him up. The same reason why you think ATL would want him, would be the same reason TOR would keep him. They don't have a guy to replace him.

Yeah. Good points, all.

THJ won't be getting extended. The deadline has passed for that. He will instead hit the market as a Restricted Free Agent next summer. Which does give us the inside track to retain him.

I agree with the other assessments. Especially Thabo leaving to chase a likely steep pay raise on a contender.
