Oakland v ATL: Warriors @ Hawks

The two best teams from 2015 face off in a matchup that really...has no bearing on the current season at all.

The last game of a long, cross-country road trip is often a trap fame for the road team. Let's take one from the poor, tired, huddled masses.

Either they'll get whooped, or hang tight and let it fall apart.

Or we will destroy them and the nets will kill us by 30. Thats about how the whole season has been going.

This is more likely, lol.

Bud just wanted to throw the game, that's all.

Wouldn't surprise me if he had money on the Warriors.

Also this is Dennis' 4th year in the league. He's our future. No one else come close except for perhaps THJR. It's time for Bud to stop treating him like a kid b/c he's not a kid. It's also time for Schroeder to stop letting Bud treat him like one.

Secondly, there's growing evidence that Coach Bud has a hugo ego. He's wants to be the reason the Hawks' succeed. It gets in the way of personnel decisions and player management. I think the reason he doesn't play young guys in their first year is to continue establishing his dominance over the team.

When he was benched I thought that Dennis had cursed Coach Bud out in the locker room or something. But now we find out that the reason our best player tonight was out for the entire second half when we went spiraling is because of an argument he had with Dwight (who deserved to be yelled at for those horrific turnovers). This seems like a case of Coach Bud letting his ego get the best of him, because that was not an offense which warranted a full half benching, not when it was in the heat of battle when the Adrenalin was pumping.

Also Bazemore had maybe the worst 17-point game I've ever seen in my life. It felt like we were playing 4-on-5 with him in there in the second half. Screw his feelings, it's time to bench him for Hardaway and cut down his minutes.

You guys bring up good points. My first thought was to cheer Bud for holding Dennis to higher standard and working to discipline him for poor leadership and judgment.

But, admittedly, this may not have been the best time and place to do so.

Bobby Cox pulled a similar tactic on Andruw Jones early in his career...and it followed him throughout the rest of his tenure in Atlanta.

In a July game in 1998 in Turner Field, Jones trotted less than full speed after a ball hit to centerfield. An enraged manager Bobby Cox pulled Jones off the field in the middle of the inning as the crowd booed.

"It only happened once," said veteran Braves pitcher John Smoltz, "but it stigmatized Andruw."
USAToday 2005

That and other off-field occurrences led Andruw to leave ATL a few years later.

Maturity was one of the biggest reasons why Jones went from what once looked a Hall of Fame lock with the Atlanta Braves to a journeyman who played with four major-league teams in the last five seasons. USAToday 2013

There are a lot of parallels between Dennis and Andruw.

I now fully support trading Dennis once we find a worthy deal. With his production and his contract, it shouldn't be terribly difficult. (Dario Saric, please!!!)

I do wonder if Josh Smith might still be in the league had a coach stood up to him this way early in his career.

I love it. I wish we played these guys more often.

Great game until all of that went down.
Dennis did everything positive during the first half but the second half was a polar opposite.
