Good Hawks Strategy

Sign vet FAs signed to 3-4 year deals, develop, flip them before their expiring year (example: Carroll, Sap) bringing in young players / picks

Sign more FAs to, mentor, develop, trade. You do this yearly, cycling in vets to teach, develop, trade.

Invest in young players developped to be Hawks core.

This strategy can be cap friendly and allow the Hawks to build a young team, developped in house and maintaining long-term upward growth.

Here's my take on applying that strategy to the Hawks from the end of this season (given the very tough situation):

Signed players:

DH, Schro, Prince, Bembry, Baze, Delaney

Draft:

Look to trade DH / Delaney / Baze (have to improve trade value or eat) to improve draft situation or get younger players.

FA:

Bring back THJr, everyone else is gone. Sign FAs as win now / develop / trade assets.

examples:

Nearlens Noel, Aron Baynes, Terrence Jones, Patrick Mills

Got to develop and trade them, unless they become a key part of a young core. Bud is great at developping this kind of player, just need to trade them at max value and bring in some more.

Noel / Baynes / Draft
Jones / Draft / vet min
Baze / Prince
THJr / Bembry / Draft
Schro / Mills

Bring in a guy from Europe.

This strategy is repeated yearly. I believe we can build a very good team this way while keeping growth potential and young core development as a long-term plan. The rotating vet FAs and developping core keep us competitive short-term.
