Doesn't mean he's gonna be back in 3 games, just that he won't be back before that time period. Dunleavy just missed 13 games with ankle synovitis. If we go 0-3 in these next 3 then I'd just shut him down regardless and go for a tank-on-the-fly.

I'm sure his agent would advise him to call it a year.

Father time catches up to us all...Millsap also missed some time in the pre-season due to issues in the other knee.
Now comes word that he's
meeting with Dr James Andrews just before the post season? Multiple knee issues? Declining efficiency? I reckon Paul's agent is extremely concerned right now.
Millsap is currently being nagged by knee soreness. In 65 games, Millsap has played a career-high 34.3 minutes per contest, contributing 18.1 PPG and 7.7 RPG for the Hawks, despite a career-low .443 FG%.
Here...the Hawks forward was diagnosed...following a visit to Dr. James Andrews Monday morning and conferring with team doctors
myAJCIt’s usually not a great sign when a guy sits out for a bunch of games and then gets diagnosed with an actual issue.
CBS SportsSynovitis is when the synovial membrane becomes inflamed. It’s usually a sign of another issue causing the inflammation.

Just did a little research on Knee Synovitis. Doesn't look good. If it's not, might he opt-in?

He'll be 33 next season. He wants that last big pay day and plenty of teams would line up to pay him.

Not if he's a 33 year old with a chronic knee condition that sidelined him for the stretch run and playoffs and he's looking for big bucks. The site I checked said Synovitis is a chronic condition and this injury is bad timing for him.
If, he can't come back or is very limited in the playoffs, do you think he'll get the same offers. So back to my question: if this plays out this way and his long-term value is affected and he doesn't get an offer that is more lucrtive than his option, could he opt in?
I want the Hawks to rebuild. No more stat stuffing vets that aren't good enough. Pay the piper and at least try to build a competitive team. Got to prioritize the draft and young signings.
The most unpleasant part of following a team for me is complacency; from the team and fans. Got to want to win and if the price is tanking as the only means possible....then that's the path.

Doubtful (unless it's opt-in plus extension), and apparently he had the same procedure for the same condition on his left knee to start the season.

This is another reason that the Hawks need to let him go. He can help the right team; a contender or near contender. The Hawks are not going to be that next season.

Millsap dealt with knee issue weeks before synovitis diagnosis
Paul Millsap had issues with his left knee for about two weeks before tightness in the joint caused the Hawks forward to miss the past eight games.
Millsap sat for five games in which the team believed was a short-term issue. He then traveled to Florida to visit Dr. James Andrews. After conferring with team doctors, a diagnosis of left knee synovitis was announced. Millsap underwent a non-surgical procedure and was ruled out for three additional games, a timetable that ended against the Bulls Saturday. Synovitis is swelling and fluid buildup in a joint.
Millsap said the rest has been most beneficial for his knee. The training staff has also worked to strengthen his legs while he has been out. Millsap took part in much of the Hawks practice Friday and did a pregame workout Saturday.
The Hawks have lost six of the eight games Millsap has missed with the knee issue. They also lost three games his missed earlier this season with a hip injury bringing their record to 2-9 without the All-Star and leading scorer.
“Very difficult,” Millsap said of watching the Hawks struggle down the stretch of the regular season. “You always want to be out on the court with your team. It gets on you being on the bench watching. It’s been rough on me.”

Tough for Sap. Hope the rest of the guys can pick him up during the PO run. Also hope he goes to a team next year that can use him as a great 3/4 option and give him a chance to get a ring and get a good deal. He definately deserves it.
