The team definitely appears to be embracing the fun of being an NBA team this season. It is no longer business as usual.

Word was Bud's front office (and Ferry's before that) were a bit hugh high strung.

I give credit to Schlenk for helping to change the culture to more of a free wheeling, pleasant atmosphere. We'll see if they can keep that up once the losing games start.

For the life of me, I still don't understand what this is.

I don't even know where to put this. Just a small nugget of Hawks history following the greatest season in franchise history:

New Sixers general manager Elton Brand was offered an assistant GM job with the Hawks after the 2014/15 season, he said during an appearance on a podcast with ESPN’s Zach Lowe. Brand opted to wait for another chance to play and eventually signed with Philadelphia, where he got into 17 games the following season, but served mostly in a mentor’s role. That led to a chance to run the organization’s G League team, which eventually landed him his current job.
Hoops Rumors

It's also noteworthy that during 'The Process', Elton played a role similar to what Vince Carter is expected to do here.

If I recall, that was a decision made just after 'the Colangelo boys' were brought aboard.

Why can't GT get some hype going like this at the preseason games? They could have GT celebrities like Buzz and.... that guy who invented tiny lasers.

Are you suggesting them dudes showing up at the Steg are actually U(sic)GA celebs?

That notwithstanding, you illustrate one of the frustrations with GTbball from a hype standpoint. There's no reason for us not to have a preseason event with all the celebs walking around this city.

One of the many areas, sports-wise, we drop the ball.

Not only that but seems like they should be getting Salley, Price, Kenny, Stephon, 3D, Best, Harpring, Ferrell in the house regularly.

Hey, don't tell us how to run our bidness!

Nah but some of them dudes come around a bit. Odd that you forgot about Bosh who probably comes around the most lately.

Brian Gregory torpedoed our program just like I knew he would. :banghead:

DEAR ATL,
OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF THE HAWKS FRANCHISE IS TAKING SHAPE.

As you read this, we are putting the finishing touches on the transformation of our home, the new State Farm Arena - re-inventing the venue into a state-of-the-art, next-generation arena to entertain you for years to come. With an immersive video experience featuring the third-largest scoreboard in the NBA, a new open concourse design with spectacular views from every angle, first-of-its-kind interactive spaces such as Topgolf Swing Suites and Killer Mike’s SWAG Shop, food options ranging from premium restaurants to fan-friendly favorites at reduced pricing, State Farm Arena will have something for everyone.

We are so excited to host you at the arena and introduce you to our new head coach, Lloyd Pierce, and our exciting young team. Widely regarded as one of the NBA’s future coaching stars, we believe Lloyd’s relentless energy, toughness and passion for player development and his experience creating a positive environment and winning culture will be invaluable for our talented team.

With Trae Young, the NCAA’s top scorer and passer last season, joining the likes of John Collins, Taurean Prince and veterans Jeremy Lin, Kent Bazemore and Vince Carter, we have assembled a roster with a mix of highpotential young players and quality veterans necessary to make sure each player is held accountable every day and reaches their full potential.
