I said before I think guys like Illyasova, Moose, Dedmon, Baze etc. will playe early and often to showcase them for possible trades. After the trade deadline, if they are still on the roster they will see reduced minutes as the young guys are featured so Schlenk and Bud can see what we have and who to target at the draft.
I agree 100%. For some reason i'm still seeing writers who think Bud will be trying to win every game at all cost. It's just crazy that they don't think he understands the bigger picture.
Yep.
With young players you want solid vets that can play the way coach wants them to play, help the younguns develop good habits etc. - that's part of the learning process. Having D-League players like Philly did who were only interested in playing to stay in the NBA stunts the development of the young players.
That's why I think the Kings also finally woke up. I don't know if they got somebody new in the front office or what but they got Fox, Jackson, Giles and Mason...picks that were actually good for once, then they get Zbo, Carter and George Hill to mentor them. Great idea!
The only downside about the vets being on a young squad is the extra wins they will add. I'm all for starting the young guys initially, let them get a taste and let us lose like 20/25 games...then play the vets a bit more in late December through early February to showcase them, then immediate flip them for assets and start the young guys again until the end of the season.
