So he's just walking? No S&T?

I haven't seen anything about a SnT but I hope somethings coming.

Everything I've read seems to suggest they can sign him outright but are possibly jettisoning Gallinari separately.

I'm in wait 'n see mode.

I feel like the Nuggets would definitely prefer a s&t, because otherwise they'd likely have to renounce rights to Gallinari to clear enough room. Plus, they need to get rid of some players and shore up the roster anyway. But would Atlanta even want anyone from the Faried/Chandler/Arthur/Nelson/Barton group to begin with?

If we don't get anything for him we have $30 million in cap space even after signing THJ and Moose. But nobody worth spending on.

Seems a bit low considering his max was 4/149.

We lost our entire starting 5 from a 60 win team and what do we have to show for it? Nothing. Not 1 promising young player, not 1 draft pick, nothing in return for any of those players. Our rebuild is starting at the absolute bottom and our future hinges on our ability to tank and find a star caliber player in the draft. Can't wait to go through a miserable season just to draft the next Marvin Williams. Apologizes for being a debbie downer, but the Hawks have stripped all optimism from me.

Just 2 guaranteed years and a team option? What did we offer him is the question I want to know.

I guess the Hawks offered him nothing and made it clear they will start their rebuilding process without him.

While I agree with the overall sentiment, we did at least move Teague and get Taurean Prince via the #12 pick in the draft. And also moved Korver for Cleveland's protected 1st round pick next summer.

A small return, I know. Especially for 4 All Stars.

Seemed like, despite what Schlenk said about him being everything they look for in a player, the plan was simply to not have Sap back. PaulSap doesn't seem like a ring-chaser type so I imagine he would've come back here had we offered a similar deal. Apparently his market wasn't as big as most thought.

Ah well, I get what Schlenk is doing. No need to pay an aging vet $30mil when you can focus on developing youth and not have that much impact on the record.

This part isn't directed at you, ATL Boy ....
And I think the notion that we "lost all the 60-win starters for nothing" narrative ignores the details behind how/why they're no longer here. It's also funny how, even though no one considered that team a "contender", all of a sudden people assume we could've traded them all for LeBron Jordan and a 1st.

I am not really complaining. I have been a die hard Hawks fan for 20 years..it is what it is..but the Gm and front office are supposed to control the "how/why they're no longer here" and get a return. Convince them to stay, or get assets if they leave...Thats kinda a big part of their job. Yes it is more complicated and there are other details to consider..but the fact is.

1. We wanted Al to stay, we could not convince him..we got nothing in return. if we had traded him earlier we would have gotten something. Thats a fail
2. Millsap should have been traded months ago..now we got nothing in return that's a fail

not too upset about the Teague, Korver trades..or letting Demarre walk. Overall, we got very little from that 60 win theam though..it is just true. your right..we did not lose them for nothing. but we didnt maximize our assets imo

What a great contract for the Nuggs. Team option on the 3rd year? I would have signed Sap to this deal any day. Not sure why the Hawks didn't other than the obvious that we are tanking. This is going to be a hard season to watch.

Hi kg, spud. I can't send pm's on here yet.

Yeah, I wasn't aiming that at you specifically. I think a lot of people kinda look at the end results like, "dang that's all they got outta that group?" But, to me, when you delve into the details it kinda makes sense.

The Horf situation was a fail in that the end result was nothing for him leaving. However, they really had no feasible window trade him earlier. Agree that Sap should've been traded at the deadline.

Whattup macd. I'll tell you what I told MaceFace, I think y'all are legally obligated to stay further than 50 posts from us. Oh and jaybird is here too under an assumed name (jayu or stte). I imagine the pm's will be quite interesting once we have access . (ETA: I assume the pm's are actually private on realgm?)

And yeah, that was a great deal for DEN. I assume we just didn't want to tie up capspace so we can land Bogdanovich(sp?)? I don't see any remaining free agents that get me all hot 'n bothered. Saving space to take salary via trade? I dunno.

The Cul-de-Sac crew, lol.
Great deal for Denver. I just hope we don't blow the capspace on crap deals. Use the space to get picks since we are rebuilding.
Where does this leave THjr?
If only we can find a taker for Baze.
