Wendell Carter Jr. remains undecided about whether to declare for the 2018 NBA Draft.

Carter is expected to be a lottery pick if he leaves Duke.

More incentive to stay another year and come out in next year's draft...much less competition in the top 10.

WC could enjoy another amateur season, build his profile going into the league, improve his draft stock, and go in more polished -- capable of competing for ROY honors from the jump.

Can be a nice off the bench stretch big man role player at this level. I'd be psyched if we could get him with 30 or 33 but after Michigan's finals run I'm not expecting him to be there.

Only guys that are top 5 picks that I'm interested in are Doncic and Ayton, that's it. Anyone else and I probably trade down.

Should we maintain our spot outside the top-3, who do you guys like at 5 or 6 that you may not have previously considered.

I'm all about M Porter Jr, Trae, Wendell or Mikal. (In no particular order.)

<sigh>

I wish him the best:

Wendell Carter Jr. declares for the NBA draft

After a week’s worth of headlines that there was some family tension of whether or not he should enter the NBA draft, Duke freshman Wendell Carter Jr. announced that he is heading to the NBA.

Carter is projected as a top 10 pick in the 2018 NBA draft. There are some concerns about his ability as a defender — he can defend the rim, but his issues moving his feet on the perimeter and his struggles picking up ball-screens coverages were a major part of the reason that Duke was eviscerated on that end of the floor so often early in the year — but he can really pass and his ability to shoot will help spread the floor.

“It was such an honor to coach Wendell,” said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. “He and his family were a true joy to have in our program and they’ll always be in our program. He had a sensational freshman year – a double-double guy – and he has so much more potential. He’s going to keep getting better, because he’s talented and he has the best attitude. He really represented himself, his family and Duke in a first-class manner, and whoever gets him is going to be very lucky.”

Man, I wish Wendell Carter begins slipping on draft night for some reason (there's always a guy who for some reason just slips... John Collins last year). We have the draft capital to move up a few spots from 19 and pounce if he ends up in the late lotto.

I'm not excited about the prospect of getting Carter with our first pick but sign me up with our second pick.

How far back in the lottery would our first pick need to fall for us to consider moving it to LAC for picks 12 & 13?

A Top four selection seems too high, but maybe #6 for both their picks?

If we could get Wendell at #12, that'd be a real coup.

For one, I'll be incredibly disappointed if our picks ends up anywhere below 4.

But, in all honesty, I think Schlenk will be more inclined to MOVE UP if the ping pong balls don't bounce in our favor. I'd guess that he wants to find 'the guy' in this draft. With all of the ammunition, going from 6 to 3 or 2 seems like something that can be done.

Moving up...

You know, I hadn't really even considered that option.

I just wonder what it would cost us.

(Next year's unprotected first rounder? Taurean? Collins?)

I think it will become more clear that Ayton, Doncic, and Bagley are top 3 on most short lists. Assuming Porter, Jackson, and Bamba are the next tier, I think we have to move up or down depending on the lotto draw.

I see this year to be the year to have multiple lotto picks. I would consider trading next year's first unprotected if we could end up with a draft netting us a top 3 pick plus Bridges.

If the pick lands 4th or 5th, I'm thinking the pick will be Young or Bamba. Getting kinda worried Bamba won't develop any meat on those legs. Might want to trade back some and get Young.

http://hoopshype.com/2018/04/14/philadelphia-76ers-joel-embiid-mo-bamba/

The intrigued with Bamba wont cease for me. Joel seems to have taken a liken to him. Usually when top stars single out a young prospect, it almost always means that player will be something of substance. Can't wait on this combine, it'll answer most of questions.
