A fair point. And in a vacuum...you are 100% correct.

But if they suffer a 60 loss season, accrue the #1 pick and see it bestowed upon a Boston team overflowing with young talent...that's a PR fiasco they may not survive. Especially with their ownership situation already in flux.

How is it sunk when if they have as bad a season as this year they keep their pick.
Memphis has already said they are not interested in rebuilding, yet. They are trying to make the playoffs next season.
The pick is protected 1-8 in 2019, 1-6 in 2020 and unprotected in 2020.

We're not terrified of adding 4 rookies to our roster next year. We have the roster spots for that.

At the end of the day, if you're not scoring 100 points, you're probably not winning. So, we're gonna look for guys that are two-way players. Guys that can compete defensively but also guys that can score the ball on the other end. (5:00 minute mark)

Brad Rowland holding it down at 3:49 mark.

If we were to miraculously find a way to get #3 and #4 in this draft...is this the pairing you'd go with?

I think I'd prefer Young and JJJ as they would pretty perfectly complement each other. Trae would feed Jaren for so many easy buckets...it'd be the new ager Stockton/Malone.

And JJJ would cover up so many of Trae's offensive defensive mistakes...that'd be a fun duo to watch grow together.

I would absolutely go Bagley and Trae for a new age Amare Nash combo. We would be pretty fun to watch. If this is our identity, it’s fits the new nba of no D.

Ayton

Bagley / JJJ / Bamba / Doncic

Young / Porter

After Ayton as a near 100% chance of first pick, 4 guys are all bunched up making the choice for #2 and #3 quite difficult.

Michael Cunningham guesses that we prefer JJJ over Bagley because of Marvin's positional concerns.

If we cite that as the reason for passing on Bagley then I'll have no issue with it. He looks like he'll be a tweener at the next level. Also, him saying he felt that he's a "great" defensive player rubbed me the wrong way. He's not a great defensive player and I'm worried that he doesn't have the self awareness to realize it.
