Hawks flying high into Charlotte (Oct 20, 2017)
The Atlanta Hawks will seek to go 2-0 on their season-opening road trip when they visit the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.
The Hornets will be making their home debut, having fallen 102-90 at Detroit on Wednesday.
Atlanta scored the final six points of its 117-111 victory at Dallas, its first opening night win on the road since beating the then-New Jersey Nets in 2011.
The Hawks are hoping to continue a recent run of fast starts. Their last six editions have opened 11-4, 12-5, 8-5, 16-6, 7-1 and 9-2.
...the Hawks will have to deal with old pal Howard, who had 10 points and 15 rebounds in his Charlotte debut Wednesday at Detroit.
Acquired from the Hawks in June for Belinelli and Miles Plumlee (the teams also swapped second-round picks), the eight-time All-Star already has made his mark on the Hornets.
“He’s very determined: a) that we win; and b) that he plays at a high level,” Charlotte coach Steve Clifford said. “I think he understands that the correlation between those two things will be strong.”
Howard contributed 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game to the Hawks’ 43-39 season a year ago. Atlanta was eliminated by Washington in the first round of the Eastern playoffs.

Hornets were pretty abysmal without Zeller last year.
This has the makings of a 2-0 start for the home team.

Oh no ! D8 is expected to, all by himself, to completely shut down the Atlanta Hawks. No more rebounds.
No more drives inside to score.
With an expected 27 wins for the entire season, surely o one can believe that Atlanta can get #2 all ready.
To go 2-0 with this team can't be. Ask the experts.
We're almost all healthy, only Plumlee is out. Hornets have more than one missing. -
Could it be possible? On the road? Win #2? Ain't this fun !!
GO HAWKS !!

I'm expecting Dwight to have a huge game tonight, something along the lines of 25 and 13, he'll be completely motivated.
I also expect us to pull this one out with so many Hornets injuries, most notably Batum. Schroder vs. Kemba should be fun.
Man, I really want to start 2-0 and end up with a 4-1 record on this road trip.

Agreed. I think Howard will come out motivated and will end up with a nice statline. Unfortunately, this'll be further evidence that big men no longer impact winning as much as they used to. Recent evidence included WhineSides' great game0-1 line and the combined 60+-20+ point/reb night Davis and Cousins had both in losses.

Hawks 104
Hornets 97
Dwight might get his double double or get injured...that chances are about the same in my mind...(I'm hoping he doesn't...cuz u know...the Hornets are a uhummmm(cough) better team with him.
By the way you guys are too focused on Dwight to remember the guy who really wants revenge..
Marco Belinelli 24 points
Prince 17/8
Dennis 16/10
Collins 12/12
Dorsey with a couple nice 33333333's
HAWKS WIN HAWKS WIN!!!! 2-0

Rookie duties:
I'm pretty sure this constitutes hazing. Luckily Collins should get to pay it forward next year.

During the Hawks broadcast vs MAvs, Andre ALdridge said Collins stopped by to introduce himself to the crew but said he couldn't stay long because he was on rookie duty to get stuff for his teammates.

Watching these guys run coach Bud's offense is so fun to watch. I'll easily give up hopes of a top 5 pick if it meant keeping Mike Budenholzer here as the head coach long term.
