Make no mistake, I'm not passing judgment. I'm at the point where I want us to cheat but to do it well. Why not, at this point? The NCAA has proven they don't care if you're clean.

GT just needs to up their cheating game. They're doing it all wrong apparently - stay out of strip clubs and lounges, too much social media as evidence. Meanwhile, the bagman in the shadows, much harder to catch .
And I agree the NCAA is selective in their 'findings' depending on the program.

I've been considering moving from Minnesota for the past year and Atlanta is on my short list of places I'm considering. Home prices seem very reasonable in comparison to Uptown/Downtown Minneapolis at least. Based on my research apparently traffic is really bad in Atlanta. How is the subway system? If you have any recommendations on places that are cool or up and coming that would be appreciated. I'm 30, no family, and value walkability a lot. It seems like Buckhead area and Brookehaven are pretty popular recommendations. Is Old Fourth Ward nice?

Thanks for any help.

Some other members might be able to give you a better feel for the places in the city (I for example live around 30-45 minutes outside of it).

Our subway system is pretty terrible. MARTA uses a system of trains and busses. They can get you to the general area that you want, but you will likely need to walk.

Late reply. You may have already moved. Old fourth ward is really the hottest place intown to live and is probably the most walkable neighborhood. Kirkwood is up and coming. Midtown is also good if you want more of downtown/skyscraper type feel.

So much depends on where you will be working to see how badly you are affected by traffic. I definitely think being intown on the 85 corridor is the way to go. Atlanta is weird though. You may want to rent before you buy to get a feel for it but I'd recommend old fourth ward or that general area if you can afford it.

I haven't been there in many years. I hope they find the shooter.

I gotta say, when I heard this news, it absolutely broke my heart.
Georgia Tech football recruit Bryce Gowdy fatally struck by train

Throughout his recruitment, this kid was super excited. Actively recruiting other kids to GT. You would've never known the turmoil he was apparently dealing with. The Sun Sentinel article goes deeper into all of it including the post by his mom.

Sounds like him, his mom and younger brothers were recently homeless, nowhere to go. Sounds like he felt guilty about leaving them in that state. Also sounds like he and his mom were/are dealing with some form of undiagnosed mental illness - based on his mom's words, not my speculation.

I saw where someone described suicide as similar to a person jumping out of a burning building. In their minds, death is certain. Just one is quicker than the other.

Just tragic. Sad. Praying for that family, especially the younger brothers.

Very sad.
The article I read yesterday said it was still being investigated.
My thoughts go to the family.

It really got to me because I'm sure he's not the only kid in that situation. If he'd made the situation known, folks could've helped the family. But, of course, the ncaa would've made him ineligible. Where's the sense in that?

Kid's bags were packed to come to school in about a week. But how do you leave your mom and brothers to be homeless while you're in the best that GT can offer?
