Peachtree HoopsHawks vs. 76ers preview: On the road again in Philadelphia
The Hawks are in Philly for an interesting match-up
After two days off, the Atlanta Hawks hit the road on Wednesday evening for a very intriguing face-off with the Philadelphia 76ers. The visiting team’s 1-6 start has been dissected from virtually every angle but, with a (very) tough schedule coming up on paper, this is a spot in which Atlanta would be well served to bring energy and intensity toward pulling an upset win.
The Sixers enter this game as sizable, 9-point favorites in the Las Vegas world and much of that has to do with the strong early-season play of Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. Embiid was tremendous in a limited sample last season but Simmons, in his rookie campaign, has been lighting the NBA world on fire to the tune of 18.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.
In this match-up, Simmons presents a devastatingly difficult match-up.
Oh, did we mention that John Collins and Joel Embiid will likely face off at some point? That seems fun.

Dang I didn't realize Simmons was putting down those kind of numbers. Looks like he will be having a career night tonight then.

Man, Ben Simmons is so good and I'm excited to see him for a full game. I think he's the true future superstar on that 76ers team, not Joel Embiid.

Simmons, Giannis and Tatum Aaron Gordon seem like the next great powers ready to run the East in 4-5 years.
Can't wait till we have a young stud capable of going head to head with those guys.

For real. Dennis is good, it's possible he could turn the corner into an all-star. I like Collins, Prince and Bembery quite a bit and they will all be good players but we just don't have that dude. Someone to drag the entire team on their back like those guys are starting to be able to. I would give anything to have Giannis man, his trajectory is nonsensical, he's an absolute beast who has been putting in the work since he got in the league to be one of the best ever, and he even played defense in the all star game! Plus he just seems like a cool guy. I always liked his rookie interviews when he was adjusting to American culture, that dude discovering frozen yogurt is hilarious. One of if not my favorite player in the game right now. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS he's not a hawk. like. so much.

Based on fan reactuons to basic basketball plays, sounds like Sixers gonna win the Super Bowl.

Re: Game Thread: Hawks in Philly
We're in this game because Brown sucks as a coach and because Embiid isn't in shape.
Also, if JColl gets it together, he'll have about 6 highlight dunks in the 2nd half.

Just got home from class, incredibly pleased to see that we fought back from 17 down.
Also, I'm all in on Isaiah Taylor.

Re: Game Thread: Hawks in Philly
Taylor was 1st off then behind Dennis.
Bud played Delaney more at SG I think, he actually had a positive +/-. Then this.....

Re: Game Thread: Hawks in Philly
Absolute collapse in the 4th quarter, starting off 1-14 from the field to bury ourselves. John Collins with 6 fouls, he's got to cut down on the fouls.
Kent Bazemore continues to be an albatross. He was in the thick of things in that 4th quarter drought, missing 3s and driving in for a terrible layup attempt.

Re: Game Thread: Hawks in Philly
Per Andre Aldridge, Bud lit into the team in the 1st quarter about playing with pride, says in all his years as coach he has never seen Bud so animated.
We keep getting down big in the 1st and using too much energy to battle back. The shooting droughts is what kills us. Too many O-fer possessions for too many minutes.
Taylor, Taylor, Taylor, hey Delaney he took your spot. However, Delaney must have realized his NBA career is at crossroads so he actually played well tonight. I guess playing SG helped.
Prince with a another impressive game - double double, 2 blocks, 1 steal, he looks more comfortable. More importantly ONE turnover.
Dennis was Dennis.
Baze and Moose...bleh
Mac-d will be happy to see Babbit break out of his shooting slump.
GrayMule is gonna be mad we left 8 point at the freethrow line.
Collins left to many easy points at the rim.
